JOB DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY: Wintergreen Winter Teams program is designed to make skiing and snowboarding a lifelong sport for our team members and their families. Our mission is to develop expert skiers and snowboarders who have a passion for their sport who can eventually share that passion with others. To do this we create a safe environment where we prioritize fun over the heat of the competition. Thanks to a large team of experienced coaches, our skiers learn how to ski and snowboard as they learn to compete. We have many success stories from team members who at a young age didn’t know if they could and after some years working with our coaches are able to confidently show they can. We are seeking Introductory, Development, and Competition Coaches for Race and Freestyle teams for this coming ski season (2023-24). These teams consist of both skiers and snowboarders.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

All coaches will work under head coaches and the Program Director regarding daily lesson plans.

• Coaches must be expert skiers/riders or be strong skiers/riders with the ability to develop.
• Coaches are responsible for the training and development of the assigned team athletes ranging in age from U8 to U19.
• Coaches must be knowledgeable in the principles and application of alpine ski racing or freeride elements and have the ability to demonstrate and communicate that knowledge clearly and positively.
• Coaches must be able to create and maintain a safe learning environment, have effective group management skills, be enthusiastic and outgoing.
• The Coach will help ensure that all athletes’ equipment is adequate and comfortable.
• The Coach will assist in setting-up and running special events and training sessions, will run on hill coaching sessions and will help with competition setup and break down.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

We are seeking Introductory, Development, and Competition Coaches for Race and Freestyle teams for this coming ski season (2023-24). These teams consist of both skiers and snowboarders. We are looking for dynamic individuals who enjoy working in a team environment, demonstrate strong communication skills, and have the ability to commit to weekends, Dec - Mar, in addition to Holiday Camps and extended competition weekends.

USSS Certification - Non-Certified

USSS Certification - Entry Level

USSS Certification - Level 100

USSS Certification - Level 200

LICENSEANDCERTIFICATIONREQUIREMENTS:

Part time positions are available, in which preferred candidates should have previous race or freeride, competition or coaching experience, along with current USSA or PSIA certification, prior certification or the ability to get certified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Work is performed in an indoor/outdoor environment. Incumbent shall be exposed to conditions normally encountered in an outdoor environment and including travel from site to site.
• Incumbent wears prescribed personal equipment protection including protective footwear.
• Physical demands consist of sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and bending, reaching, lifting and climbing.
• Occasionally lifting and carrying moderately heavy objects of up to 50 pounds
• Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
• Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
