Summary:

The Ski Patrol Manager assists in managing and overseeing the Kirkwood Ski Patrol. This is a managerial position tasked with performing normal job functions of the Ski Patrol and providing a high level of supervision to Patrol staff. The Patrol Assistant Director must be capable of prioritizing and strategizing all facets of the job with the intent of aligning the team with the core competencies of the Company. Other duties can be assigned as needed. Ski patrol is a highly visible role on the mountain and this position requires active engagement with guests and employees.

  • Shift & Schedule Availability: Year Round 10 Month / Full Time
  • The budgeted range starts at $64,480 + $69,000 + annual bonus.  Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the day to day operations of Kirkwood Ski Patrol with up to 50 employees; overseeing all facets of guest service, guest safety, slope safety, medical care, avalanche hazard mitigation, mountain maintenance and lift evacuation 
  • Administrative duties such as goal setting, performance management, performance appraisals, overseeing and ensuring the quality assurance of training, scheduling, work comp, payroll, budget management and anything else necessary for the successful operation of the Kirkwood Ski Patrol
  • Will be able to function appropriately in the absence of the Ski Patrol Director
  • Will work closely with other on mountain departments and managers and third-party agencies
  • Knowledge of mountain operations, including but not limited to: Avalanche hazard mitigation, snow surface and snow removal operations, snowmaking, slope maintenance, risk management, terrain parks, lift maintenance, lift operations, dispatch, and fleet maintenance
  • Demonstrates effective supervisory skills with regards to motivation (morale and positive reinforcement), disciplinary and corrective action, and documented mid and end of season review
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills and strong guest service skills
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have three years supervisory experience
  • Must have a minimum of five years Ski Patrol experience, meet the requirements of an Advanced Patroller and be able to ski all types of terrain in all conditions
  • Must have a Cal OSHA Blaster’s License
  • Must have valid EMT or OEC
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook and be able to navigate Corporate intranet sites
  • Must be able to handle conflict with diplomacy and tact
  • Must be successful with influencing a positive culture, leading change, empowering the workforce and driving employee engagement
  • Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required

 

The expected pay range is $64,480 + $69,000 + annual bonus. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
