BizFirst is assisting our client with recruiting a Full-time, Direct Hire Site/Civil APM/ Project Engineer (7-10 Years’ Experience) working out of South Plainfield, NJ, and supporting projects in NJ, primarily NY. Our client is a medium-sized, fast-growing consulting engineering and construction management firm with large programs in the public sector and enterprise markets.
What you will do
Our client is seeking a Site/Civil APM/ Project Engineer (7-10 Years Experience) position working out of South Plainfield, NJ, and supporting projects in NJ and NY. The successful candidate will assist with various projects within the land development, infrastructure, transportation, energy, healthcare, education, and government sectors. Some duties will include preparing AutoCAD drawings, reports, and technical specifications. Site design tasks will include city zoning analysis, site layout, site grading, storm sewer design, sanitary sewer design, main water design, project phasing, and other site design components. The person will also manage a few junior and mid-level engineers
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of AutoCAD drawings
- Site design; Site package
- Project management
- Work with other engineers on multi-discipline teams
- Manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail
- Communicate effectively with managers, clients, and contractors
- Management of other junior and mid-level engineers
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- B.S. in Civil Engineering
- E.I.T. required
- Qualified to pursue a Professional Engineering license (P.E.) within 2 to 3 years
- Minimum 7 years of relevant Site/Civil engineering experience
- Proficient with AutoCAD with some experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Storm water Hydraulic modeling program experience such as HydroCAD, StormCAD or Hydroflow
- Experience managing or at minimum mentoring junior engineers
- Some project management experience
- Familiar with NJ building codes, municipal ordinances, permitting standards, planning board and zoning board processes, ADA design
- Experience with site layout, grading, drainage design/stormwater modeling (stormwater management), utilities, and erosion control

- Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Ability to work with other engineers on multi-discipline teams
- Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing and prioritizing with attention to detail
- Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and assignments with competing deadlines
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers, clients, and contractors
- Excellent written and verbal communication as well as strong design skills
- Motivated and excited to grow with a medium-sized firm and the potential to advance with the company
- Driver’s license and reliable means of transportation
- Background check (required)
Preferences:
- Some knowledge of HydroCAD/HydraFlow or other hydrologic modeling software
- Some NYC agency (EDC, DDC, DOB, DOT, DEP, etc.) project experience
