Job description

ERAM Site Support Engineer ATEC is looking for a Site Support Engineer for the FAA's ERAM (En Route Automation Modernization) Air Traffic Control System at the William J. Hughes FAA Technical Center. Duties will include troubleshooting and resolution of system problems as identified by system users at FAA field sites.

The position requires significant interaction with other System Test Engineers, Software Engineers and System Engineers along with interface to FAA engineers and Management. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Position of Public Trust. This job is a hybrid schedule.

The candidate will be expected to report to the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Pomona, NJ, or the ECS Atlantic City Office, at least two (2) days per week or more as required. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Knowledge of the National Airspace System, Air Traffic Control & Air Traffic Control Radar with 10 years of technical experience including the deployment of NAS systems preferred.

Experience with implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and software. Ability to develop technical documentation Ability to analyze large complex datasets Ability to analyze and diagnose complex automation systems Proficiency in Linux and knowledge of Unix and AIX (operating system and administration) Ability to occasionally work off-shifts and weekends; however, this is typically a standard 40-hour workweek Ability to travel to FAA Air Traffic Control facilities as needed (normally less than 20% of the time) DESIRED KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of C, C++, Ada, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Perl, Python Knowledge of Unix, Korn shell and C shell script development Knowledge of Ethernet network operating principles, operating systems (Cisco IOS), devices, configuration, protocols, and troubleshooting principles REQUIREMENTS: Education & Years of experience From a college or university accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or another technical field with a minimum of 30 semester hours in a combination of math, statistics, and computer science with fifteen (15) years of related work experience in the specific engineering principle OR Masters Degree in Engineering with twelve (12) years related work experience in the specific engineering principle OR PhD or Doctorial in Engineering with three (3) years of experience in the specific engineering principle.
