Site Safety Manager

GSA is currently looking for a temporary Site Safety Manager in Eden, NC. This position will run 6/ 10 hour days with $120 a day per diem. OSHA 30 is required, OSHA 500 is preferred. Please respond with your resume for consideration.

SUMMARY:

Works with and through management to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned or required:

· Assists and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations including, without limitation, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Customer/Site Safety Manual, Company Safety Handbook, and all other Safety and Health standards and instructions.

· Assists in ensuring the safe and health condition and good housekeeping in the workplace.

· Ensures the observance of the Safety rules and safe practices by all Company employees and take enforcement action when required.

· Carries out risk assessment and prepares safety method statements, including control measures for high and medium risk activities as necessary.

· Advises Corporate Safety Director on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.

· Plans and implements training for Company employees in work Site Safety practices.

· Assist, set up and conducts training and prepares training records.

· Performs safety surveys and inspections as needed, but on no less than a weekly basis, prepares reports of findings and recommendations, including as required by statute, for corrective or preventative measures to be presented to Corporate Safety Director for approval and follows up to ensure approved corrective measures have been implemented.

· Conducts accident investigation and prepares investigation reports and recommends preventive measures to avoid recurrence for use by Corporate Safety Director and Company Senior Management

· Works with medical services personnel to provide and coordinate emergency and other medical services required for injured employees

· Maintains safety files and records.

· Assists in ensuring that all plant machinery, equipment and tools are maintained in safe working order. Ensures that names of the persons designated for operation of particular plant and equipment are recorded and checks that plant and equipment are only operated by designated competent persons with required training.

· Assists in ensuring fire services installations and fire escapes are maintained in good working order.

· Arrange and organize Safety promotion activities.

· Liaises with regulatory agencies, including dealing with state specific Department of Health requirements, as well as OSHA, MSHA and Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety Managers and representatives, as requested by Corporate Safety Director.

· Assesses new developments in the health and safety field with possible application to Company’s operations.

· Keeps apprised of developments in local and state safety laws applicable to covered territory likely to affect the Company.
