```Overview:```
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. The Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, as well as implementing and maintaining effective safety programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management and possess knowledge of relevant regulations and standards such as NEC and OSHA.
`Job Site Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) on a Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) federal project located on Indian Head Naval Support Facility, MD
- Monitor crew work locations to ensure compliance with OSHA & EM 385 safety manuals, as well as compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Review Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA's) with 10 onsite crews each week
- Deliver tool box talks each week to 10 onsite crews
- Document all safety incidents on site and report to NAVFAC weekly; document all safety inspections and training activities
- Conduct a "contractor self safety assessment" audit monthly
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures
- Provide safety training and education for employees to promote a culture of safety awareness
Skills / Experience Required:
- Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30 (OSHA) Certification
- 5 years continuous construction safety experience
- Proficiency in computer and ipad use, to track and report all safety-related data
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices, with a preference on trench excavation safety knowledge
- Familiarity with EM 385-1-1 and OSHA safety manuals
- Excellent communication skills to effectively train employees on safety protocols
- Ability to build strong relationships with employees at all levels of the organization
- Submit and track PFAC and RDF security badge submissions

- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations (NEC, OSHA)
- Familiarity with EHS (Environmental Health and Safety) practices
- Experience in compliance management and risk assessment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in using construction management software
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (preferred)
