OVERVIEW
- Leads the site’s Environmental, Health and Safety (Stewardship) culture through people engagement, ownership of programs, and influence
- Provides technical expertise, proactive actions, systematic services, and consultation on program / policy execution
- Acts as an coach and mentor to all site personnel in effective EH&S processes and principles
- Active member of the site leadership team (SLT)
RESPONSIBILTIES
- Leads Environmental, Health and Safety (Stewardship) programs and initiatives – active partner/collaborator with other SLT members, employees, and contractors
- Champions issue resolutions and stewardship improvement efforts
- Maintains site compliance to local and federal environmental and safety regulations
- Interfaces with regulatory agencies to ensure permits, licenses, reporting, and responses are accurate and completed appropriately
- Assesses and develops EHS programs and strategies to ensure continued compliance, continual improvement, reasonableness, and practical execution
- Manages site sustainability (ESG) and waste reduction action plans and reports
- Engages all levels of the organization around Stewardship - Leads from the front as a highly influential person
- Collaborates with local agencies and site partner for emergency response preparation and drills
- Bachelor’s degree Engineering, Environmental and/or Safety (will consider experience in lieu of degree)
- Minimum 5 years experience required in manufacturing (pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or refining)
- Experience in leading improvement efforts/projects in a highly collaborative environment
- Waste water treatment and air permitting experience/knowledge desired
- Process safety experience/knowledge desired
- Experience with Regulatory Agency interactions
- Strong leadership competencies and ability to champion issues, ideas, and initiatives
- Knowledge of OSHA and Environmental regulations
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to lead influentially, high level of ownership, and an entrepreneurial spirit
