Project Overview

Bechtel is among the most respected engineering, project management, and construction companies in the world. Bechtel operates through four global business units that specialize in energy, infrastructure, mining, and metals and nuclear, security and environmental. Today, our colleague's team with customers, partners, and suppliers on diverse projects in nearly 40 countries.  The Infrastructure Global Business Unit (GBU) is executing site civil and marine scopes of work associated with our scopes of work on the Energy GBU LNG projects. The candidate will serve as the Site Piling Superintendent on the Rio Grande LNG project. The work location is Brownsville, TX. 

 

Position Summary

The Site Piling Superintendent directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned. Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets. Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions. Provides leadership for the development and maintenance of a high-performance project team. Has overall responsibility for scope execution, ensuring that Program/Project is delivered within contract requirements, standards of quality and safety and to Customer and Bechtel performance expectations. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervising and directing craft operations within assigned disciplines or areas.
  • Supervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned.
  • Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors’ performance is in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budget.
  • Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions.
  • Coordinate with various discipline Superintendents, General Foremen, and Foremen to determine equipment requirements.
  • Schedule work to be performed, supervise in-process activities, and review work accomplished.
  • Prepare equipment maintenance schedules.
  • Prepare material requisitions for tools and consumables.
  • Supervise and direct subordinate personnel and craft in equipment support activities within various disciplines.
  • Prepare craft requisitions and forecasts, jobhour/staffing forecasts and expenditure forecasts.
  • Develop and work plans and activities. 
  • Implements procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules and budget.
  • Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned discipline operations.
  • Coordinates field activities with other disciplines Ensure that all State and Federal safety codes, requirements, and standards are being complied within assigned area of responsibility. 

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience, or 9-13 years relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in field supervision on direct hire work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction engineering practices related to all disciplines
  • Demonstrated planning and scheduling, procurement, and contracting experience
  • Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
  • Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support the project execution plans and schedules
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program Extensive experience in civil construction of large projects

  • Advanced knowledge of cost management including estimating and forecast development
