Kleinfelder is seeking a Site Design Civil Engineer with 5 to 8 years' experience in Civil Site Design to join us supporting work in the Ohio area.  This position can be based in: Bowling Green, Defiance, Maumee or Zanesville.

Job Summary and Responsibilities:

 

Civil Engineer with 5-8 years of experience, responsible for leading and managing projects from conception to completion. Proficient in project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation. Skilled in conducting feasibility studies and ensuring compliance with regulations. Demonstrated expertise in site design including pavement, drainage, utilities and stormwater design, materials selection, and quality assurance. Effective communication with cross-functional teams, clients, and stakeholders. Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Advanced knowledge of industry standards, codes, and emerging technologies in civil engineering.

 

Prepare designs, reports, and calculations on moderately complex projects. Performs and develops scope for field and office tasks (technical and non-technical) and conducts independent analysis. May coordinate assigned staff. Works under minimal supervisions from Manager within specific guidelines and protocols on complex assignments:

 

• Prepare site design to include pavement, drainage, grading and site layout.
• Conducts field exploration, analysis, and technical support as applicable under direct supervision.
• Assists senior operations and technical staff by coordinate9ing small projects.
• Provides training and supervision for entry level technicians and staff professionals as needed.
• Conduct storm water analysis as required to meet local requirements.
• Assist with plan submittals for plan approval and permitting.

  

Required Experience:

• 5-8 years of civil site design experience. 
• Experience with Hydro CAD and Storm CAD, Stormwater Modeling a plus.

 

Education: 

• 5 Or more years of Site Civil Experience
• A BS in Civil Engineering is required, and PE is preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

 

Preferred Skills/Experience:

 

The candidate should have at a minimum, experience in, or the ability to readily learn, the fundamentals of site design as it relates to commercial, logistics and industrial Site Civil Design of utilities, drainage, pavement grading, etc.

• Distills the important/critical facets of technical challenges and prioritize effort to solve problems commensurate with the job level. Regularly applies academic knowledge, job training and experience to distill, evaluate and solve technical problems of limited complexity and scope with clear direction and oversight.
• Performs and executes technical calculations. Performs calculations with minimal supervision. Understand policies for calculation review. Review calculations performed by others.
• Effectively and convincingly communicates technical information in meetings/presentations to practitioners, clients, and laypersons. Demonstrates skills effectively and convincingly communicating technical information in internal meetings and presentations. Has some direct client interaction as appropriate.
• Applies creativity and appropriate independent thought to solve technical problems commensurate with the job level. Understands multiple elements of moderately complex problems and is able to apply creative, appropriate, and innovative sills to identify the best application or combined applications of technology to moderately complex problems with limited assistance or oversight.
• ability to use Word, Excel, Bluebeam, Outlook, and Teams to effectively communicate with internal and external clients,
• ability to adhere to organizational standards for quality and performance,
• ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications,
• ability to read and interpret applicable design codes,
• ability to assist in preparing basic design calculations under the direction of a Senior civil Engineer,
• ability to assist in reviewing/checking calculations prepared by others,
• ability to assist in the drafting of plans and details,
• ability to assist in preparing meeting minutes,
• ability to assist in reviewing and processing RFIs,
• ability to assist in reviewing and processing Submittals and Shop Drawings,
• ability to work collaboratively with other design disciplines (Architecture, MEP) to coordinate the site with the overall design.
