Purpose/Introduction
There is an immediate opening at the Sweeny Complex located in Sweeny, Texas for a Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Specialist. Job responsibilities for this position include the following:
Responsibilities
- Serve as local expert for instrument industry standards and local practices.
- Develop, coordinate, and implement plans and processes to ensure preventative maintenance testing is completed successfully on time.
- Perform corrective and preventative activities on control systems in operating units during daily operations, equipment turnarounds, and projects.
- Troubleshoot and lead failure analysis on instrumented equipment and recommend corrective or preventive measures
- Provide technical support to help build training manuals for Operations and Maintenance personnel
- Perform factory acceptance tests of instrumented systems at vendors shops
- Able to work with a design team on approval of specific project details. I.E. marshaling layouts, routing, redundant process measurement strategies, logic voting strategies, etc
- Able to interface with unit engineers and operational personnel on a conceptual design for a specific project and use that information to write a project premise, build preliminary logic or control strategies, and convey this information back to the operations group so that it is understood and agreed to
- Coordination of programming and participation in new projects involving instrumented safety systems
- Working knowledge of programming and configuration of PLC’s, redundant safety PLCs and DCS
- Commission instrumented systems during scheduled outages
- Manage SIS lifecycle program and processes
- On-call availability for emergency and troubleshooting
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- At least seven years direct experience in maintaining process instrumentation in a manufacturing plant
- Strong commitment to safety
- Self-starter capable of managing assigned workload with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in Instrument Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, Computer Technology or related
- Strong knowledge of automation/control systems, including PLC, Safety Instrumented Systems, function block and ladder logic programming, relay logic; industrial instrumentation and electrical equipment.
- Experience with compressor control systems, burner management system
- Factory training and previous experience with programming and maintenance on Allen Bradley PLC’s, Triconex TMR systems, Factory Talk View, Wonderware and GP Pro HMI systems
- Knowledge of SIS lifecycle management
