Salary Range: $67,100.00 - $113,850.00

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, education, skills, and experience as well as market demands. These factors impact the salary/wage offered.

Purpose of Position

Performs without assistance, all duties and responsibilities required to secure and maintain regulatory qualification with the FAA and any other National Aviation Authorities, on all assigned flight simulator devices.

Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a personal dedication to the FlightSafety International training philosophy in all interactions every day.
  • Perform standard Simulator support activities such as: installation, operation, inspection, periodic maintenance (align and adjust), of Simulator components and systems, accordance with established FlightSafety International standards and procedures.
  • Perform Customer configuration changes to Simulators and FTDs, evaluate and confirm proper operation and posts changes. This includes hardware, software, and avionics database change-outs.
  • Able to quickly identify, troubleshoot, repair or replace most of the Simulator and FTD electrical and sub system components and most hydraulic system components with little to no assistance.
  • Exercise judgment and independence in determining solutions to maintenance and repair problems, and otherwise carry assignments through to completion, referring only to the most unusual and difficult problems to the A/MFTD.
  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance actions result in the most cost efficient or cost reasonable manner of execution.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of the representative aircraft systems that support the Simulator cockpit indications. Exhibit advanced knowledge of specific aircraft systems. This understanding applies to two or more aircraft families, as applicable.
  • Able to recognize training critical issues and act accordingly.
  • Monitor Simulator(s); performance and condition to ensure that equipment continues in compliance with governmental regulations; this is accomplished by observing maintenance log(s), pre-flight log(s), and by assisting with and/or conducting simulator performance evaluations, as necessary.
  • Exhibit a working understanding of the SAP system, as it pertains to inventory management, and able to train/assist others in the inventory processes.
  • Must be familiar with all governing regulations required by the various approval authorities for the proper operation of all FTDs, the facility, and the safe employment of personnel.
  • Initiate or assist users (instructors, clients, etc.) in the preparation of a Simulator Discrepancy Report (SDR) to ensure accuracy and completion.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all Simulator Support, Quality Operating Procedures (QOPs), and related documentation.
  • Exhibit a working knowledge level of the FlightSafety International software architecture.
  • Participate in inter-shift briefings, review the shift log, and shift pass downs; and maintaining email communication.
Tasks and Responsibilities (Cont.)
  • Monitor Simulator(s) performance and condition to ensure continued compliance with governmental regulations. This is accomplished by ensuring prescribed FlightSafety International security policies and standards are closely followed and that only NAA regulatory approved changes are applied to simulator training software or hardware; and through continuing observation of maintenance and pre-flight logs, and by assisting with and/or conducting simulator performance evaluations, as necessary.
  • Adhere to required work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.
  • Report on a timely basis, any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building to the appropriate person(S) for correction.
  • Supports published Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Business Processes.
  • Supports Learning Center Safety Management System (SMS) by adhering to the processes related to accomplishing SMS goals.
  • Support FlightSafety International’s, and its subsidiaries’ commitment to ethical behavior by basing our priorities on lawful and ethical conduct as we deal with co-workers, customers, vendors, and others in all of our operations. (See Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002)
  • Occasionally travel for training purposes or to assist other Centers, as needed.
  • Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.
Minimum Education

Associates degree in electronics from a college or completion of a civilian/military electronics technical school preferred.

  • The SQT Training Course must be completed within one year of assuming the position.
  • Education can be substituted by a combination of three (3) years education and experience in a related field. 
Minimum Experience

Seven (7) years’ experience, including: 

  • Electronics technology, avionics or related civilian/military technology; or
  • Equivalent direct support of full flight simulators and/or FTDs 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Use test equipment, support equipment and tools used on flight simulators, graphical flight simulators (GFSs) and associated electronics devices.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the advanced operating principles of simulator and FTD subsystems.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of NAA requirements.
  • General knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required. Familiarity with Microsoft Access preferred. Knowledge of other software programs may be required, as needed.
  • PC literate and Basic Office equipment.
  •  Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications.
  • Able to read and interpret documents.
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must be customer oriented with mature interpersonal skills projecting a friendly, cooperative manner accompanied by good grooming habits and adherence to FlightSafety International specified dress code standards.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

 

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
