Job description

Your Role: What you'll be doing
At ULA we're invested in evolving our software capabilities through the creation of new launch system simulations to augment our existing software and hardware-in-the-loop test capabilities. As the Simulation and Virtual Test Environments Architect, you will integrate across software engineering leaders, architects, and development teams to:
  • Maintain and evolve the Virtual Test environment roadmap for the entire Software Engineering Department
  • Oversee and guide the technical implementation of the software simulation roadmap
  • Establishing standards and best practices for software Simulation andTest Environments
  • Work to streamline delivery of simulation environments and capabilities including evolving existing capabilities to maximize commonality reuse and deploy ability
  • Present simulation software designs for business stakeholder approval
  • Support product owners and scrum teams in estimating implementation efforts required for new features
  • Reviews and contributes to the:
    • Software system and subsystem-level requirements
    • Interface requirements
    • Design verification requirements
    • Qualification test plans, procedures, and results
    • Requirements verification plans and evidence
    • Software product under configuration management
  • Educate and mentor junior engineers in software development practices and skills through 1-on-1 coaching, documentation, and design & architecture discussions.
  • Drive and support collaboration across multiple software development teams to ensure design consistency, consistent interface implementation, and other early interventions to address integration issues
  • Manage technical risk; define risk handling plans, and implement risk burndown steps as applicable

Your Background: What skills you'll need
  • A Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics), Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four years of directly related exempt work experience may be used to satisfy the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Experience with designing cross-platform systems
  • Expert in object-oriented design
  • Expert-level proficiency in C++
  • Expert Test and/or Simulation / Emulation experience
  • Prior experience designing and maintaining large-scale software systems
  • Experience with Unix-based operating systems
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management practices and tools such as Git (preferred), SVN, or Perforce
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Real-Time, Linux-Based Operating Systems
    • Communication protocols, including Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, Serial
    • Distributed and modular architecture development
    • Containers
    • Secure coding
    • Developing device drivers
    • Hardware-software integration
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in working with a broad range of technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of test-driven development, CI/CD, and DevSecOps
  • Leads deployments and has strong project management skills.
  • Capable of setting technical direction for several scrum teams
  • Capable of providing technical coaching and mentorship

Summary Salary Range (Colorado Only)
$163,482 - $255,525
Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
