Job Details:
- Position Type: Full-Time
- Caseload: Elementary (Grades 4-6)
- Pay Range: $37 - $38/hr
Responsibilities:
Join our team and make a difference by:
- Providing engaging Sign Language interpretation and communication support in diverse educational settings.
- Facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students, peers, teachers, and school staff.
- Ensuring accessibility to classroom materials, lectures, and discussions through real-time interpretation.
- Adapting Sign Language techniques to meet the unique communication styles of each student.
- Collaborating with educators to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Pursuing continuous professional development through workshops, training, and conferences.
Qualifications:
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- A minimum Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) score of 3.5, RID, or NIC certification.
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and demonstrated proficiency in English.
- At least 1+ years of experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with educational terminology and curriculum for effective interpretation of academic content.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport with students, staff, and parents.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity towards the diverse needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt interpretation styles based on individual preferences.
