This position is responsible for working one-to-one with a student to provide interpreting or transliterating services in an educational setting, working in accordance with the student’s Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). All activities conducted by the Interpreter are under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
· High School Diploma or GED
· Experience working with school-age children, preferred
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS
· Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license
· Achieve and provide evidence of a score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) for the appropriate grade level to which the person has been assigned and/or be a qualified Sign Language Interpreter or qualified transliterator under the Sign Language Interpreter and Transliterator Registration Act and its implementing regulations
· Evidence of a minimum of 20 hours of staff development activities relating to interpreting or transliterating services annually
WORK-RELATED KNOWLEDGE
· Must have good interpersonal skills in order to relate well with students, faculty, and administration.
