Job Title: OTR / Local Driver- SHUTTLE
Location: Moorefield Transportation Department
POSITION SUMMARY
Driver will be required to operate and maintain Commercial Motor Vehicle combination to transport and deliver products to external customers, which may include “store door” and /or inter-company deliveries by performing the following duties in a safe and timely manner to meet customer needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate Commercial Motor Vehicle to and from destination in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations.
- Performs Pre and Post Trip Tractor and Trailer Inspections daily. Additionally, the driver must submit inspection reports to the home terminal dispatch at the end of shift.
- Investigate and properly fill out the appropriate paper work for vehicle accidents and submit them to the Corporate Safety and Health Office.
- Maintain Drivers Daily Log and abides by Hours of Service according with Federal regulations.
- Maintain J.J. Keller systems for DOT Purposes.
- Possess’ extensive knowledge of DOT regulations and Company Fleet Safety policies.
- Assist customer and plant employees in loading and unloading trailers in a safe manner.
- Must have successfully completed the probationary / trial period.
- Must have excellent attendance habits
- Must have no other disciplinary write-ups within the past 90 days.
- Must possess a valid CDL Commercial Drivers License (Class A) and certify that they hold only one valid operator’s license.
- Must be physically qualified by passing a DOT Medical Certification with company physician.
- Must be at least 21 years of age for interstate operation (operating from one state to another).
- Must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
- Must by reason of experience, training, or both, safely operate the type of Commercial Motor Vehicle he/she will be driving. A minimum of one year is required.
- Must meet Pilgrims Pride’s Qualification and Hiring Policy, which includes the following:
- Complete Pilgrims Pride’s Driver Application.
- Previous employer request (Three (3) years of verifiable driving experience)
- Certification of violations (annual review of driving record)
- Motor Vehicle Report must have less than three (3) occurrences
- Complete a “Road Test”
- Certificate of compliance
- Drive Data Sheet
- Written Examination of Federal Regulations
- Submit to a DOT Drug and Alcohol Screen Tests
