As a Shopper Intelligence Manager at Hill's, you will be responsible for executing shopper studies and overseeing the collection, analysis, and interpretation of shopper data. Your role will involve understanding consumer behavior, preferences, and trends to optimize product assortments, marketing strategies, and promotional activities. Collaboration with cross-functional teams & external partners/agencies will be essential to drive strategic decision-making and enhance the consumer shopping experience.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Shopper journey work: Work with best-in-class agencies to initiate shopper journey studies to gain an in-depth understanding of consumer behavior for various business opportunities/ questions/ challenges

  • Shopper Data Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret shopper data from various sources such as point-of-sale (POS) data (eg. Nielsen, Numerator, Rakuten), market research/ shopper studies, loyalty programs, and consumer surveys 

  • Consumer Behavior Understanding: Develop a deep understanding of consumer preferences, purchase drivers, and shopping habits.

  • Shopper Segmentation: Segment the shopper base to identify key target groups and develop tailored strategies.

  • Competitive Analysis: Conduct competitive research and benchmarking within the Pet food industry.

  • Category Vision: Lead (with support from Brand & RCD teams) the implementation of the category vision through direct and indirect interactions with select retail partners to identify unique partnership opportunities and position Hill's as a category expert & thought leader within the Pet Nutrition category.

  • Collaborative Strategy: Partner with brand marketing, customer development, agency, and retail marketing to understand business priorities and develop and implement strategies aligned with shopper behavior.

  • Shopper Intelligence Presentations: Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and compelling presentations to internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Data Visualization: Utilize data visualization tools to present complex shopper data in a visually appealing and understandable manner.

  • Forecasting and Planning: Collaborate with demand planning teams to use Shopper Intelligence for forecasting product demand and developing effective sales strategies.

  • New Product Launches: Provide Shopper Intelligence support during new product launches.

  • Technology and Tool Adoption: Stay updated with the latest Shopper Intelligence tools, technologies, and methodologies.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Data Science, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of proven experience in running shopper studies, consumer behavior analysis, market research, or related fields.

  • Familiarity with syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRI, Numerator) and consumer panel data

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw trends and patterns from complex data sets.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Master's Degree

  • Experience within the CPG industry.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, R, Python) and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence decision-making.

  • Strategic thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Familiarity with various Shopper Intelligence data sources and syndicated data providers

Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $112,000.00 - $140,000.00 USD
Pay is based on multiple non-discriminatory, individualized factors including but not limited to experience, job-related knowledge and education, skills and office/market location. In addition to base salary, salaried employees are eligible for annual discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing and, for Executive-level (salary grade 16 and above) roles only, long-term incentives in the form of Restricted Stock Units and/or Stock Options.
Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable benefits plans then in effect, all salaried employees are also eligible for a competitive benefits package which includes:

  • Insurance: Employees (and their eligible dependents) are eligible to participate in Company-sponsored Medical, Dental, Vision, Basic Life Insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment and Disability insurance plans.
  • Retirement Plans: Employees are eligible to enroll in Colgate's 401(k) plan, which provides for company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements
  • Vacation/PTO: Employees receive a minimum of 15 days of vacation/PTO leave annually
  • Paid Holidays: Employees receive a minimum of 13 paid/floating holidays annually
  • Paid Sick Leave: Based on location and consistent with applicable state and local law, employees receive a minimum of 40 hours of paid sick leave on January 1st of each year
  • Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees may take up to eight weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of unpaid leave (varies for employees with fewer than 12 months of service and is subject to hours worked requirements)
