Job Summary

The Shop Helper will assist with the extinguisher shop as well as coordinate the activities and operations of the warehouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assis with managing warehouse inventory and maintains database.
• Discharge and recharge fire extinguishers

• Basic stocking of products/material

• Basic cleaning of work area

• Customer service for the Counter Sales/Walk-in customers

• Implements daily picking and staging requirements, arranging for excess stock to be stored in warehouse.
• Receives new deliveries by matching to Purchase Order.
• Manages daily flow of staged items by modifying storage space assignments.
• Confirms availability of items to be shipped by verifying inventory records or conducting inventories of required items.
• Manually handles, repacks, or restacks pallets of finished product as needed.
• Operates forklift truck as needed.
• Documents all related activities and completes forms and reports.
• Gain basic knowledge of fire protection parts, tools and machinery.
• Use safe working practices and required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Drive delivery vehicle to pick up and drop off materials and tools throughout our work area.
• Perform fabrication duties including cutting and threading of pipe and assist with welding operations.
• Gain basic knowledge of fire protection parts, tools, and machinery.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED
• 6 months of Material handler experience with progressive responsibilities
• Knowledge of standard business terms and arithmetic
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Effective interpersonal and organizational skills
• Ability to provide exacting accuracy in all phases of work
• High School Diploma or GED
• Must have a valid Driver’s License and clean DMV Record
• Must have been licensed for at least 5 years
• Must successfully pass an employment background investigation
• Must be able to drive and operate a forklift

Preferred Requirements

• Knowledge of ERP Systems and MS Office applications
• Forklift Certification

Compensation $16 - $18/hour

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to stand for 8 hours, walk, sit, and climb stairs, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee will need to be able to withstand working in temperatures that may exceed 100 degrees. The employee will need to have the ability to walk in excess of 1 mile in a day.
