Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
Loading and unloading various tractor trailers, vans, trucks, etc. Entry of work orders, tagging customer product. Inspection of heat-treated material for specification compliance. Pulling test bars per company standards.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Material handling of non-preloaded product to heat treatable containers and from heat treatable containers back to customer containers.
• Housekeeping in all designated areas.
• Implementing all quality procedures as they relate to specific systems and/or customers.
• Helping in all areas of production and quality as directed by the Team Leader or member of management.
• Operating a forklift in a safe and efficient manner.
• Following written procedures and work instructions correctly.
• Documenting any non-conformance in the process you discover as well as placing product in the hold/non-conform area.
• Participating in a team based working environment.
• Communicating with others and participating in a group/team environment.
• Attending and participating in meetings and prescribed training sessions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Inspection
• Responsible for all inspection and testing of in-process and finished material to include, but not limited to, Brinell testing and Rockwell testing in accordance with ASTM, customer and divisional procedures.
• Responsible for adherence to all customer specific and divisional documentation and tagging requirements. This includes documentation accuracy and completion.
• Reacting per divisional policy to identified non-conforming product during any phase of the process.
• Responsible for ongoing and accurate completion of all customer and divisional required SPC charts.
• Responsible for material movements associated with all aspects of in-process and final inspection.
• Monitoring and maintaining applicable departmental supplies.
• Completion of all required Quality checks (daily cross checks, Gage R&R's, PM's, etc...) as prescribed by divisional procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Mechanical testing
• Mechanical testing and applicable documentation / tagging of customer product per customer and / or divisional requirement.
• Responsible for following all applicable mechanical testing procedures to include but not limited to:
o Adhering to applicable ASTM method for preparing test bar specimens (horizontal / vertical saw use, lathe operation and use etc...).
o Adhering to applicable ASTM standard for pulling of test bars
o Adhering to applicable ASTM standard for measuring elongation
o Must follow all safety practices associated with using mechanical testing equipment.
• Completion of all required Quality checks (Gage R&R's, PM's, etc...) as prescribed by divisional procedures.
• Monitoring and maintaining applicable departmental supplies.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Shipping and Receiving
• Receiving Inspection / review of incoming shipments and documentation to ensure accuracy, consistency, and conformance to divisional requirements.
• Issuance and generation of internal work orders and outgoing bills of lading.
• In-house identification and tagging of customer products and containers in accordance with divisional procedures.
• Daily physical inventories in accordance with both internal and external customer expectations.
• Verification of incoming product and identification of the appropriate process. Additionally, responsible for communication of relevant information to appropriate managers and team members. This includes, but is not limited to, contract review, new part verification, part entry, and parts placed in hold.
• Customer drop-forward shipment as well as expediting service requirements.
• Responsible for the assurance of safe travel requirements of customer products, i.e., banding, wrapping, packaging, stacking, etc.
• Communication within and among all departments to provide information sharing necessary to provide total customer satisfaction.
• Periodic customer contact via phone or personal visits.
• Responsible for computer related functions in accordance with departmental needs - reports, bills of lading, work orders, inventory, new part entry etc....
• Safe loading and unloading of incoming and outgoing trucks.
• Proper generation, verification, and dispersion of certifications.
Monitoring and maintaining applicable departmental supplies.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS / ABILITIES:
• Forklift experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Must be capable of learning multiple tasks and willing to stay abreast of changes and learn new tasks.
• Must possess positive attitude, be dependable, reliable, self-motivated, and trustworthy.
• Must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills (+, -, x, /, some algebra).
• Above average work record.
• Must be willing to work toward attaining company goals and objectives.
• Must be willing to work in a shared responsibility and team-based work environment.
• Must meet all criteria for training, completion of OJT, successful completion of applicable tests and demonstration of competence in skill to be eligible to receive any skill adder.
