Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Provide maximum customer satisfaction in the Parts Distribution Center through accurate and timely documentation of receipts and shipments using established policies and procedures.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Accurately complete 100% of all shipping and receiving daily goals.
  2. Verify and document all shipments and received goods with their appropriate paperwork and labeling.
  3. Inspect incoming products for damages, product description, and quantity variances.
  4. Inspect all outgoing products for quality and accuracy.
  5. Utilize proper packing methods on all orders to mitigate potential transit damage.
  6. Use freight carrier computer applications to process outbound orders (UPS, Fed Ex, LTL carriers).
  7. Maintain related areas daily: make sure all stock is put away labeled and orderly, note proper locations and correct discrepancies, maintain records, maintain adequate stock of shipping supplies, and general cleanliness.

  13. Maintain stockroom and related areas daily: make sure all stock is put away labeled and orderly, note proper locations and correct discrepancies, maintain records, maintain adequate stock of shipping supplies, and general cleanliness.
  14. Utilizing the Irium business system, demonstrate proficiency in the Inquiry, Workorder and Purchasing modules. Must be able to post parts when applicable, receive inventoried items through established PO receipt process, and post any applicable inbound freight charges per established procedures.
  15. Distribute non-inventoried items to appropriate department, may require research for items not labeled.
  16. Responsible for initial contact with walk-in Parts customers or vendors.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Learn basic equipment and product knowledge.
  2. Work with outside carriers when loading outbound shipments.
  3. Prepare palletized shipments to include banding products and shrink wrapping.
  4. Receive and document all goods per established procedures.
  5. Monitor and maintain all shipping related equipment, machines, and supplies inventory.
  6. Maintain discarded products or shipping materials including used tires, batteries, cardboard and pallets.
  7. Communicate with vendors, suppliers, and with other company associates as required.
  8. Assist in other areas of the Parts Department, as needed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Demonstrate mechanical skills and ability, basic computer aptitude, and general clerical skills.
  3. Experience using Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel is helpful.
  4. Previous knowledge of UPS / Fed Ex shipping systems and hazardous material procedures and guidelines is helpful.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally works in a warehouse Shipping/Receiving environment, but frequently works in a shop area with exposure to heat, cold, and low light situations with exposure to moving equipment and tool hazards.  The Associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and toxic or caustic chemicals.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

 

The Associate must be available to work before or after normal working hours and occasionally on weekends, based on workload factors such as inventory, special projects and other similar items. 

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the Associate is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear.  The Associate frequently is required to walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The Associate must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 130 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
