Shipping Specialist

The IDEAL CANDIDATEhas experience packaging and shipping a variety of products of different shapes, sizes and weights. Understands domestic and international shipping. Position Summary

Collaborative Team Member of our Manufacturing Overhead who works closely with our logistics and other departments to efficiently perform all aspects of domestic and international shipping including outgoing and incoming shipments and required recordkeeping.

Essential Functions

Ø Verifies goods received from manufacturing against sales orders ensuring they are complete and accurate. Performs visual quality inspection. Ensures any special packing, labeling, handling, notification or shipping instructions are properly addressed.

Ø Package goods in boxes, cartons, crates according to our product instructions making sure that it arrives to our customer without damage. Ensures all packages are marked and labeled. Wrap and palatize products as required.

Ø Ensures all paperwork (especially international) is complete and accurate. Records shipping information (products, weights, dims, etc.) on Packing List / multi-packer. Arranges for pickup. Routes shipping paperwork, including freight charges, to Accounting for billing.

Ø Maintains accurate inventory records and performs data entry as appropriate or requested.

Ø Assists Receiving in delivering stock to the correct bin, location, or department.

Ø Provide back-up to the Shipping Manager in their absence including generating shipping labels and providing invoices and all required documentation to related departments (i.e. finance).

Ø Must be able to frequently push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a daily basis.

Pay is Commensurate with Experience

Shipping Specialist I – Entry level. Learns and performs basic tasks under close supervision while exercising minimal discretion. Demonstrates ability to learn and master new Shipping tasks. Achieves productivity and quality standards.

Shipping Specialist II – All of the above, plus: Demonstrates mastery of certain specified Shipping tasks. Works under limited supervision. Exercise’s discretion and independent judgment within defined boundaries. Works effectively using Shipping computer records. Meets or exceeds productivity and quality standards. Is cross-trained and is competent to train others.

Shipping Specialist III – All of the above, plus: Demonstrates advanced mastery of a substantial number of Shipping tasks. Works well with minimal supervision. Exercise’s discretion, independent judgment and problem-solving skills. Should be fully cross-trained and is competent to train others. May serve as a Lead or backup. Future promotion to Lead, Supervisor, or Manager is earned based on knowledge, experience, performance, leadership and ability to take on more responsibility.

Education & Experience

Ø High School Diploma or Equivalent. Post high-school preferred (certificate from technical training institute is desirable).

Ø Min 2 years’ experience in shipping and/or receiving domestic and international shipments. inventory or warehouse.

Ø Able to operate forklifts and pallet jacks for large goods.
