Job description

Shipping & Receiving Manager
Support plant goals by planning and directing the daily requirements of the Cold Storage Warehouse, Shipping, Receiving, and the Logistics of all outbound and inbound shipments. Create and direct policies, objectives, and initiatives for the shipping department in conjunction with corporate oversight and plant goals.
Organize, staff, direct, and control manufacturing operations to ensure that plant schedules and objectives are achieved in an effective and efficient manner. Conduct employee performance, counseling, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. To keep the Director of Operations informed of daily issues relating to the efficient operation of the shipping depart. Attend and participate in meetings, training and education programs internally or externally as deemed appropriately by management.
Ensure shipping best practices are implemented and maintained. Coordinating pick lists and daily shipping schedule for a 24-hour Cold Storage operation. Help direct distribution strategies including third party warehousing in a cost-effective manner.
Evaluating advanced planning and scheduling procedures, storage capabilities, technology and the IT systems (JD Edwards) with regards to the warehouse and shipping activities. Liaise with Production, Planning, Marketing, QA and Sales for forecasting and fulfilment needs. Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and forecasts additional expenditures.
Initiates actions supporting continuous improvement. Defining and implementing systems and procedures to ensure the least cost shipping objectives. Participate in Six Sigma projects and carry out new innovative ways to help reduce cost and waste. Conduct monthly safety meetings and job training as required.

Management is responsible for creating a positive food safety culture, setting expectations, and inspiring others to follow. You are responsible for completing food safety training within your areas of responsibility and supporting the overall food safety program within Cavendish Farms.
