A&K has sales offices and a network of storage and distribution facilities strategically located throughout the United States. Together, these offices and inventory locations maintain an extensive and comprehensive inventory of track materials across the nation. Overall Career Summary:

This position mainly assists with the daily functions of the shipping yard. This position is essential and the key to our daily operations. Our Kansas City location is not only the central location which entails the most inbound and outbound material, but it’s also our manufacturing base for our materials. This position manages inventory, tracks shipments, ensure loads are correct, and enters data for changes to the yard and inventory. This position works directly with the Yard Supervisor. This is an 7:30-4:30 shift M-F.


The candidate in this position should be able to multi-task, prioritize work when multiple projects arise, communicate effectively with crew members and management, enter data in company systems, and manage safety equipment and its supply chain for the shop’s stock. This person must also be comfortable with the fast pace and changing environment. This position entails a lot of interactions, with drivers, yard crew, staff, customers, vendors, etc. We need someone who can maintain all of this while performing needed duties which are essential to operations. This person is the last step between our material making it to the customer, with this we need someone who is attentive to details and organized and can catch things that may arise from start to completion and delivery.

Requirements:

Primary Responsibilities:


  • Distribute gloves, ear plugs, glasses, and other PPE to assure every employee has the required safety equipment.
  • Work with customers, operating crew, sales staff, logistics, and other operating yards to provide the ultimate customer service experience.
  • Maintain communication with customers to ensure shipments are meeting their delivery requirements and expectations.
  • Communicate and coordinate truck needs and delivery requirements to logistics team as soon as confirmed by customer.
  • Have a deep understanding of how to use and operate the companies ERP system.
  • Receive new orders, verify inventory and date requirements are able to be met, provide picking list and plans to operating crew with corresponding information.
  • Maintain a daily and weekly schedule with operating crew to assure shipping dates are met for each group.
  • Advise sales staff of any potential late orders, early shipments, customer modifications, or inventory issues as soon as possible.
  • Assure inventory is accurate and up to date and make corrections where/if needed.
  • Identify incoming materials and corresponding purchase or transfer orders and make sure that they align to allow unloading.
  • Create receipts list and provide to operating crew to count or inspect as needed, enter into the system with all corresponding documents.
  • Provide customer service to walk-in customers and process payments for them as needed.
  • Maintain office, kitchen, and safety supplies for yard staff.
  • Keep track of temps hours and positions, requesting new temps as needed and providing job details to agency - send hours weekly to agency.
