Job Description
  • Receive, process and deliver inbound shipments and pick-up prepare and ship outbound materials, to include hazardous materials.
  • Examine shipments for purchase order and blanket ordering agreement compliance and bankcard requirements.
  • Maintain accurate filing systems and generate receiving discrepancies as required.
  • Pick-up, prepare and ship outbound materials.
  • Utilize the Federal Express and other freight carrier computerized shipping systems.
  • Receive, process, deliver and ship the hazardous materials utilized at NREL.
  • Review, interpret and ensure compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Hazardous Materials Regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, NREL Safe Operating Procedures and NREL Transportation Safety Manual.
  • Document receiving and shipping transactions and maintain the Oracle Purchasing Module, Inbound Delivery Manifest system and Chemical Inventory Management system.
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Good problem solving and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service and safety orientation. Evidence of successfully having worked in a group or team to achieve common goals. Use new ideas or suggestions from others, and works effectively on own as needed. Working knowledge of computers in a Windows based environment including Excel. Must have a good driving record with the ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License with a hazardous materials endorsement. Working knowledge of the DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Ability to lift 70 pounds routinely and 100 pounds occasionally. Ability to drive standard shift vehicles and forklifts. Ability to work in a fast paced and regulatory driven environment.

Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 2 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Full knowledge of specialized focused business support functions. Complete understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the business support activities, and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered. Fully competent in applicable software packages and office equipment. Demonstrated project administration skills. Full knowledge of specific principles, procedures and practices related to supported fields and disciplines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, team and interpersonal skills.
  • Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

  • 5 years experience in a Shipping and Receiving environment
  • Experience working with hazardous materials (we will train).
  • A CDL (we will sponsor).
  • Someone who excels in a task-oriented team environment.
  • Awareness of and experience with working in a safety oriented environment, wearing PPE.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Specialist III / Annual Salary Range: $49,100 - $78,600
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
