Franciscan Outreach is an Emergency Shelter provider in Chicago that has been providing healthy meals, safe shelter and critical services that affirm the dignity of men and women who are marginalized and homeless and empower them to gain the stability they need to transition into permanent housing for over 30 years.

The Position:

Shelter Support Staff

What we are Looking For:

• Someone with scheduling flexibility able to work different shifts, (shelters are open 24/7) in a congregate shelter environment.
• Someone comfortable with using computers and general administrative functions.
• Someone to assist guests in the development of daily independent living skills, including laundry, personal hygiene, and maintaining a schedule of activities.
• Someone to monitor the activities of clients to ensure the safety of guests, volunteers, and staff; and conduct rounds.
• Someone to hold shelter guests accountable for upholding program rules and expectations.
• Someone comfortable dealing with vulnerable and/or homeless populations with an understanding of substance abuse usage and mental health disorders
• Someone to provide crisis intervention as needed, including determining when it is necessary to involve other staff, management, or the authorities.
