Sheetfed press operator helper
Responsible for the management of the web press staff under this shift, daily operating of the press, folders, ink fountain, maintenance and repairs of the press and related equipment, training of new pressman – with continual improvement training in constructive manner, maintaining and ordering supplies and materials used in the printing process while performing printing with minimal waste on production of high quality finished printed products.
Compensation: $23 an hour or more, depending on skills and experience.

Job Description:
- Manage, while building a cohesive team of press assistants, during the assigned shift of the web department, by providing supervision, guidance, and feedback on how to improve their performance and production.
- Ensure that all products are produced on schedule and on budge.
- Manage the workflow together with the department heads and production manager, by scheduling, monitoring quality control and ensuring that projects are completed on prescribed. time.
- Establish standards and procedures for quality control.
- Monitor machine productivity while ensuring each member of the shifts is doing required maintenance schedules and are completed timely.
- Communicate to all other shifts any equipment of maintenance issues or concerns, for an awareness by all parties for safety and correcting the deficiencies.
- Work closing with other department heads, customer service, pre-press, and management to foster a productive efficient operation in all departments.
- Attend and use educational opportunities that strengthen managerial skills and plant operations.
- Review job orders to fully understand the job to make the right adjustments to the press and related equipment and coordinating with the helpers.
- Install parts and supplies such as paper rolls, plates, ink for optimal operation of the press and periphery equipment.
- Overseeing all phases of the production so the printed materials meet job specifications and post press schedules.
- Work closing by frequent communications with the pre-press and customer service department fostering a harmonious relationship for accurate, timely delivered products.
- Perform with the helpers all maintenance and repair tasks required on the press and related equipment.
- Trouble shoot equipment issues to identify and fix potential repairs before press is inoperative.
- Clean and maintain the press, press area, paper stock, ink supplies, fountain operations and all related functions.
- The press operator / foreman is an essential team member by their leadership for smooth running of work that leads to satisfaction through other post-press processes and ultimately to the customer.
- Assist other head pressman as required during their shifts and their press helpers to be efficient, while maintaining the equipment and surrounding work areas for safety and cleanliness.
- Overtime management shall be used to ensure work is performed during the normal working hours. If addition time, is required, using overtime for completion of the work must be determined in advance or planned to secure sufficient revenue for the extra costs to operations.
