Job description

You will serve as a SHEET METAL MECHANIC (AIRCRAFT) TRAINING LEADER in the Production Trades Division, Industrial Execution Department of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST.Qualifications: Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE
A) Have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including: 1) Performing productive tasks of a journey level Sheet Metal Mechanic, including repairing various types of fixed, rotary wing and trainer aircraft and aircraft components; 2) Developing training courses, curriculum and instructing courses as required; 3) Demonstrating proper trade techniques and practices, explaining safety precautions and giving instructions on the use of power tools, materials, measuring devices, precision instruments and safety devices; 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, job orders, specifications and maintenance instructions; 5) Troubleshooting systems, disassembling components/systems, and determining required repairs; 6) Performing complete structural check of aircraft; 7) Maintaining training records and making recommendations for employee's training plan progress or additional training as appropriate; 8) Developing and revising lesson plans, developing and administering tests and maintaining progress charts; and 9) Conducting formal/informal or on-the-job training instructing others in the use of tools, nomenclature, theory of operations, repair procedures and test procedures of components, assemblies and air-frames associated with the Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic trade.
B) Have the ability to perform the full range of tasks including: 1) Performing productive tasks of a Sheet Metal Mechanic, including repairing various types of fixed, rotary wing and trainer aircraft and aircraft components; 2) Developing training courses, curriculum and instructing courses as required; 3) Demonstrating proper trade techniques and practices, explaining safety precautions and giving instructions on the use of power tools, materials, measuring devices, precision instruments and safety devices; 4) reading and interpreting blueprints, job orders, specifications and maintenance instructions; 5) troubleshooting systems, disassembling components/systems, and determining required repairs; 6) Performing complete structural check of aircraft.; and 7) Conducting formal/informal or on-the-job training instructing others in the use of tools, nomenclature, theory of operations, repair procedures and test procedures of components, assemblies and air-frames associated with the Aircraft Sheet Metal Mechanic trade.
C) Have the ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including: 1) Performing tasks of a Sheet Metal Mechanic, including repairing various types of fixed, rotary wing and trainer aircraft and aircraft components; 2) Developing training courses, curriculum and instructing courses as required; 3) Demonstrating proper trade techniques and practices, explaining safety precautions and giving instructions on the use of power tools, materials, measuring devices, precision instruments and safety devices; and 4) Reading and interpreting blueprints, job orders, specifications and maintenance instructions; 5) Performing structural check of aircraft.
