Additional Information

Position Description
Direct Services
The SHARE Counselor is a direct service provider reporting to and under the direct supervision of the SHARE Associate Director and Senior Clinical Services Coordinator, as part of the University's Office for Gender Equity (OGE).
In this role, the SHARE Counselor dedicates approximately 80% of their time to direct services, which includes working directly with students, staff, faculty, and post-doctoral fellows who have experienced or witnessed interpersonal violence, harm, or discrimination, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, abusive relationships, and discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation. The SHARE Counselor:
  • Provides trauma-informed counseling and advocacy, including psychological first aid, exploration of available options, and referrals, as appropriate
  • Engages in risk and danger assessment related to sexual violence, abusive relationships, and stalking
  • Accompanies navigates, and coordinates campus and community resources
  • Develops and facilitates support and psychoeducational groups utilizing a culturally responsive, intersectional lens
  • Triages and follows up with individuals seeking services with SHARE to ensure needs are met and additional issues are addressed, as they arise
  • Covers 24/7 SHARE confidential hotline, including support for callers, referrals, development of safety plans, identifications of safety risks, and documentation of services provided
  • Complies with all applicable state/federal laws and regulations, and University policies, procedures, and protocols, including those relating to confidentiality, and mandated reporting requirements
  • Utilizes internal data management systems and applicable technologies to conduct and document work
  • Undertakes additional direct services work as directed and applicable
Community Engagement, Education, and Outreach
The SHARE Counselor dedicates approximately 10% of their time to community engagement, education, and outreach, which includes working closely with the OGE staff and community partners, including School and unit resources, to advance the work of the SHARE team and OGE. The SHARE Counselor:
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with University and community partners, including School and unit resources to advance the work of the SHARE team and OGE, including attending meetings, committees, workgroups, and coalitions, as needed
  • Provides supervision as assigned
  • Collaborates with the SHARE team in developing training, workshops, initiatives, and other ongoing educational materials
  • Provides co-facilitation, as needed, for SHARE educational workshops, training, education, and outreach activities
  • Undertakes additional related work as directed and applicable
Administrative Tasks and Compliance
The SHARE Counselor dedicates approximately 10% of their time to administrative tasks to support the overall work of the team. The SHARE Counselor:
  • Researches promising practices to develop and maintain high quality trauma-informed counseling, advocacy, and group services
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports on changes in federal, state, and local regulations, legislation, and policies related to interpersonal violence; works collaboratively with the SHARE Associate Director to adapt and integrate these changes within the SHARE team
  • Attends to trends within SHARE clinical services
  • Adheres to the expectations, professional responsibilities, standards, practices, and procedures of OGE, Harvard University Health Services (HUHS), and the University
  • Complies with all HUHS training requirements including HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules
  • Undertakes additional related work as directed and applicable

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
