About the Job:
The position of Settlements Coordinator will have primary responsibility for the timely, accurate processing of weekly company driver payroll and/or independent contractor and agent settlements. This role requires a high level of confidentiality and is trusted with sensitive information and documents.
In This Role, You Will:
  • Process weekly payroll/ settlements for company drivers, independent contractors, and agents.
  • Maintenance of employee master files.
  • Setup and process independent contractor insurance benefits.
  • Setup and process payroll deductions and misc. earnings.
  • Coordinates and presents information in driver/contractor new hire orientations.
  • Completes month end reconciliations, including GL account analysis and journal entries.
  • Acts as a liaison between drivers and management on various questions and issues.
  • Create and updates procedures on a regular basis.
  • Cross training of other accounting functions for purposes of adequate office work coverage.
  • Review independent contractor equipment periodically to ensure charging appropriately.
  • Process shop invoices to independent contractors.
  • Maintain escrow and promissory notes spreadsheets and calculate quarterly interest on escrow accounts.
  • Prepare new promissory notes for contractors.
  • Check and review open order reports
  • All other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Must be proficient in 10 key use.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially in Excel.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel is preferred (i.e. filters, pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).

Desired:
  • Associate Degree in related field is preferred.
  • Two-year work history in similar role and environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of McLeod and Oracle preferred.

Location: This is an in-office role based in Chesterton, IN.
Approximately 10% travel is anticipated.
