Job Description
The Service Manager is responsible for promoting the department service and repair sales, managing team member daily workloads, project scheduling and supervision of all site daily service operations including service administration and purchasing. The Service Manager interacts with all vendors and sub-contractors utilized during regular business activities and continuously seeks to improve purchasing power and sell through margins.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Schedule and coordinate the activities of all Service Technicians and members of the Service department
- Ensure project crews follow safety guidelines and further develop the property service teams’ safety culture
- Continue to develop skillsets and provide direct hands-on mentoring when necessary
- Continually seek ways to improve productivity and eliminate errors with the ultimate goal being to improve the property satisfaction rating
- Interface with the General Manager regularly to both establish action planning as well as monitor the service department performance as it relates to property goals
- Monitor team performance, production, efficiency and quality metrics to ensure goals are met and support the overall team quality and development efforts
- Ensure adherence to departmental and/or operational policies, procedures, and practices
- Responsible for managing the department and Service budget and P&L, controlling both expenses and revenue
- Assume all other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned by management
OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work performed and composed of a variety of different tasks, calling for use of judgment and compliance with policies and procedures. Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. Must be willing and able to support the service operation with extra effort when required by workloads or property demands.
Requires excellent interpersonal skills and computer literacy. Manages multiple team members, must be able to perform varied skill projects simultaneously, and may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of customs, leadership, and employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Direct supervision of Service Technicians, Service Administration staff, Boatyard employees, and general labor. Supervises any and all sub-contractors utilized by the site directly or indirectly.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor or advanced degree in Engineering or Project Management preferred, not required
- Five (5) to ten (10) years related progressive experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Factory OEM Training and Certification a Plus
- Comfortable in a sales driven environment requiring both inside and outside efforts to achieve goals
- Microsoft Excel and MS Office suite skills required
- Ability to work in a results-oriented, project-driven, real-time team environment
- Must have strong organization skills to be able to prioritize projects and deliver quality results within tight time constraints

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee:
- Must be able to lift, carry, push & pull up to fifty (50) pounds independently at times, and at other times with assistance
- Must be able to swim or wear a personal flotation device
- Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand & arm movements frequently, and squeezing & overhead reaching occasionally
- Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
- Must be able to walk outside, sometimes in varied terrains, in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
- Must be able to climb stairs, both indoors and outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, heat)
