Job Description:
Summary/Objective: Initiate automotive services and repairs by ascertaining performance problems and services requested; verify warranty and service contract coverage; develop estimates; write repair orders; maintain customer rapport and records.
Essential Functions:
- Verify warranty and service contract coverage by examining records and papers; explain provisions and exclusions.
- Develop estimates by costing materials, supplies, and labor; calculate the customer's payment, including deductibles.
- Prepare repair orders (RO) by describing symptoms, problems, and causes discovered, as well as repairs and services required; obtain approval signatures; enter RO into the service database system.
- Maintain customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of the vehicle; obtain customer's approval of estimates; obtain and provide contact telephone numbers; answer questions and concerns; arrange towing and temporary transportation.
- Maintain automotive records by recording problems and corrective actions planned.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' publications.
- Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; explore opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

Work Environment: This job operates in the parts and service department of the dealership. It may be open to the service bays.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8;00 a.m. to 6 p.m. No weekend work is required.
Travel: No travel is expected for this position in most situations.
