Server/Waitstaff

Lion Bridge Brewing Company is a neighborhood brewery and taproom located in the Historic Main Street District of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Position DescriptionLion Bridge is looking for a professional, reliable server to serve patrons by providing information to help with food and beverage selections; presenting ordered choices, and maintaining brewery ambiance. The best candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and achieving our mission of serving beer and food that is a catalyst to conversation and community.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to opening shift checklist, end of shift checklist, and close out checklist depending on when the server is scheduled.
• Protects establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.
• Helps patrons select food, beers and beverages by presenting menu; offering new beers; suggesting food options and specials; explaining the chef's specialties; identifying appropriate beers for new patrons; answering food preparation questions.
• Transmits orders to bar and kitchen by always recording patrons' choices; identifying patrons' special dietary needs and special requests.
• Keeps kitchen staff informed by noting timing of meal progression
• Serves orders by picking up and delivering patrons' choices from bar and kitchen; delivering accompaniments and condiments as requested.
• Responds to additional patron requirements by inquiring of needs; observing dining process.
• Maintains table setting in a neat manner by removing empty glassware and plates as completed; replenishing utensils; refilling water glasses; being alert to patron spills or other special needs. Wipes tables.
• Concludes dining experience by thanking customers and inviting patrons to return.
• Obtains revenues by totaling charges; issuing bills; accepting payments delivering bill, returning change or credit card and signature slip to patrons.
• Contributes to team effort and engages with the team in a constructive manner.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers at all times, complying with all applicable sanitation, health and personal hygiene standards and following food-handling procedures.

Requirements

• MUST HAVE PREVIOUS SERVING EXPERIENCE AT THIS TIME
• Must be reliable and very flexible
• Must have no history of a violent conviction or felony and no recent history of a DUI, underage alcohol possession, use of a fake ID, etc.
• Must be able to work both weekdays and weekends. We are not seeking solely weekend help at this time.
• General Math Skill. Excellent Verbal Communication, Customer Service, Resolving Conflict, Teamwork, Persistence, Energy Level, Selling to Customer Needs, Thoroughness, Professionalism, Maintaining Positive Client Relationships
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
• Familiar with the industrys best practices

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time position. Days and hours of work are determined by management based on staffing needs.

Job Duties:

• Provide excellent customer service by taking orders, preparing them efficiently, and building a rapport with clientele
• Handle card and cash transactions, ensuring that all funds in the cash drawer are accounted for by the end of the shift
• Keep an eye on patron intoxication levels and respond appropriately
• Identify belligerent customers, and work with management when needed to maintain a safe environment
• Clean the bar and the surrounding area of spills and other messes as needed
• Other duties as requested
