Basic Job Functions:
Assist in the implementation, support, monitoring and troubleshooting of over 70 Microsoft Windows servers.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience managing a Microsoft Windows production environment, including Windows Server 2003, active directory, domains, permissions, file access, network authentication, server hardware/software support, Microsoft Exchange email, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft SMS administration
- Minimum of 1 year recent experience configuring Intel based hardware and design/configuration of Windows server operating systems.
- 1-2 Years Experience with Storage Area Network environment desired.
- 1-2 Years Experience with Veritas BackupExec desired.
- 1-2 Years Experience with a 24/7 Datacenter Environment desired.
- 1-2 Years Experience with Microsoft SMS/SCCM Server desired.
- 1-2 Years Experience with Vmware ESX Server desired.
Education:
- Associates Degree in IT or Computer Science is required
- Bachelors Degree in IT or Computer Science is preferred.
Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of server hardware, preferably Dell. Experience should include monitoring, installation, configuration, tuning and management.
- Basic knowledge of backup and storage concepts
- Knowledge of patch management practices for a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies without formal training.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills that include listening, verbal and written skills. Communication skills must include the ability to communicate with clients and develop appropriate documentation.
- Must be able to work effectively on multiple tasks at the same time with frequent interruptions.
- Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively apply customer service skills and techniques. This includes; being responsive to customers, maintaining professionalism especially in stressful circumstances, and following through with customers to ensure needs were met.
- Must be able to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. Occasional weekend, evening, and holiday work will be required
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Share 24/7 on call responsibility with Server Administrator III.
- Coordinate changes to production servers with key application stakeholders
- Monitoring Daily and Weekly backups. Responsible for rotating tapes on and offsite.
- Manage the deployment of server operating systems and virus protection patches.
- Evaluate, diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware/software issues.
- Create, modify and maintain server documentation with an emphasis on detail.
- Other duties as assigned.
