The Avionics Summer Engineering Project Program (SEPP) is our elite summer studentship established in 1995. Business relevant projects from various directorates are selected to support research, on campus partnerships, and introduce students to engineering rigor and challenges. During the summer, interns will work with their manager and technical mentor to defined a project plan and reach scoped milestones.
The CNS Surveillance Group in Melbourne, Florida is seeking to fill an electrical/RF Engineering Intern position for summer of 2024. The primary responsibility for this position will be to participate in a SEPP project to develop new extended range feature on Next Generation Transponder and TCAS Products. The duties include: RF and microwave design, analysis and simulation, schematic entry, board level test and debug.
This role is based out of our Melbourne, FL site location; may be eligible for relocation.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design analog and digital board level circuitry to meet requirements per established guidelines under supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Analyze and simulate design to ensure operation over component tolerance and operating extremes
  • Perform schematic entry for PCB layout
  • Write hardware design documents and board level test plans
  • Debug boards using standard tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and emulators
  • Analyze and interpret measured data
  • Assisting with the preparations and execution of flight testing of TCAS products

Basic Qualifications:
  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completion of circuit design with an emphasis in RF and Microwave design.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.5 of above
  • Students should be at junior or senior status by Summer 2024
