Sensory Panelist

Mission Foods is currently seeking part-time Sensory Panelists/Food Taster to work in our facility in Grand Prairie, TX.

Position Summary

As a Sensory Panelist you will assess and describe the sensory properties (appearance, texture and flavor) of different food products.

Sensory Panelists work both individually and within a team to evaluate food products and have the ability to communicate effectively in front of and with team members. No experience is necessary. Full training will be provided! THIS IS A PART TIME ROLE (9 HOURS PER WEEK, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday).

We currently are hiring 4-5 Sensory Panelists.

Requirements

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above. Additional requirements and experience include:

· Ability and willingness to safely taste and ingest the full-spectrum of food products produced by Mission Foods and its competitors, which may contain ingredients including, but not limited to: preservatives, color additives, sugar and other sweeteners, spices and other flavor enhancers over 3 hour work day, gluten and grain products. In some cases taste and ingest other food products including but not limited to dairy products, variety of nuts, etc. Ability to bite through chewy, hard and/or sticky products.

• Familiarity with and ability to use computer equipment, such as laptop and desktop computers and tablets to enter data into various software applications.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to describe and communicate sensory attributes.
• Motivation and ability to work professionally in a team environment and the willingness to participate in the evaluation of food products.
• Several key practices must be enforced in this job. These practices are important to prevent external factors from negatively affecting the perception of products and the evaluators’ performance.
• Refrain from using perfume products, lipstick and/or lip balm prior to evaluations, since this may interfere with the sensory process.
• Refrain from eating, drinking 1 hour before the evaluations. Except for water.

No prior experience is necessary, but successful completion of all pre-employment screening tests is required to be a panelist.

This is anticipated to be a part-time position working 3 times a week from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Work schedules may be modified based on operational needs. Additional hours will be required during the first months of employment for training.
