Job description

The Advanced Imager Technology Group develops imaging platforms that enable impactful national security capabilities and scientific discovery. From fundamental device research to developing camera technology for fielded systems, our group covers the full technology development spectrum from concept to prototype. Research areas include novel imager and detector design with in-house silicon and compound semiconductor microfabrication facilities, leading-edge integrated circuit design, and advanced packaging and 3D integration capabilities. Examples of our technology include large-format focal planes, high-speed imagers, time-of-arrival detectors (LADAR receivers), and low-light-level imagers.  The group's efforts span the range of device and materials development, integrated circuit design and fabrication, custom packaging, detector hybridization, and the development of control and readout electronics for system-level demonstrations.

Job Description

The Advanced Imager Technology Group is seeking a Technical Staff member to lead ongoing developments with visible and infrared band image sensors. The work will include the design and validation of new sensor electronic systems and interfacing with custom readout integrated circuits.  Prior experience developing electro-optical and/or infrared systems, and characterizing the performance of imaging systems is highly desirable.

Candidate will interface with circuit and imager designers, system architects and optical test engineers to define requirements and own camera software design from concept development through test.  Successful candidates should be proficient in HDL design (Verilog), have experience with Xilinx and Vivado tool suites, be familiar with a variety of industry standard interface protocols (CameraLink, GigE, PCIe, etc) and have experience with embedded systems programming (C/C++, ARM, etc).   Experience using MATLAB for simulation, hardware control, and/ data processing/analysis is desired.

A successful candidate will need to have a practical laboratory skillset, along with possessing good written and verbal communications with the rest of the team..  Beyond technical activities this role will include writing proposals,  presenting to government sponsors and managing of projects/small programs.
