Mission Support and Test Services (MSTS) is looking for a dynamic and motivated Senior/Principal Infrastructure Analyst to lead the efforts of maintaining the availability and integrity of both classified and unclassified networks associated with Nevada National Security Sites’ (NNSS) Remote Sensing Laboratory and its Field Intelligence Element (FIE). The Remote Sensing Laboratory is located in Suitland, MD on Joint Base Andrews. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) missions and to assist in solving critical national security problems.

 

Responsibilities

 

Senior Infrastructure Analyst

  • Desktop and Server Systems Management/Administration: Manages individual user and group security permissions and profiles, including roaming profiles and folder redirects; manages active directory group policy objects including policy tuning per operating system requirements; resets user passwords, creates/deletes user accounts and assigns account privileges; administers backup software and scheduling devices; configures Cisco switches; and executes system patching and cyber scan remediation.
  • Security Policy Implementation: Assists with the implementation of security policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems at all the locations.
  • Certification/Accreditation:  Assists with the completion of required certification and accreditation documentation for the unclassified and classified information systems. Assists with the associated security testing evaluations.
  • Risk Mitigation: Reviews risk assessment data which identifies potential vulnerabilities and threats to information systems; implements mitigation strategies prescribed by DOE-IN or senior IT personnel.
  • Security Controls Implementation: Assists with the implementation of security controls, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, access controls, encryption mechanisms, and other technical solutions to protect the information systems.
  • Incident Response: Follows incident response plans to address security issues and breaches effectively.
  • Data Call / Reporting: Assists with various data calls and provides data call information and reports for auditors.
  • Assist with other various tasks assigned by management.

Principal Infrastructure Analyst

  • Participates in the development of standards, practices and procedures that impact MSTS’s IT capabilities.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of, and follows industry trends for, automation equipment hardware, and operating system and application software.Review and recommend automation products for Mission Support and Test Services LLC (MSTS) use. Participates with designated departments in the design and development of MSTS’s Technical Standards.
  • Review requests for acquisition of network-related equipment and software. Reviews requests for network cable installation.
  • Direct or coordinate installation of network hardware, software and wiring for customer workstations and all network components.
  • Direct or coordinate analysis and resolution of network hardware, software, and wiring problems.
  • Direct network server administration and the formulation of related policy and procedures.
  • Sets guidelines and service levels for network performance capacity and reviews and directs monitoring activities.
  • Participate in network design and develops proposals for implementation of network components, including budget and schedule.
  • Review and prepare procedures, documentation, and activity reports.
  • Provide input to budgets and schedules, and reports expenditures and progress.
  • May support servers to include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, and daily operations.
  • May administer and support MSTS servers and electronic messaging system.
  • May respond to Help Desk requests to support and troubleshoot workstation and server related problems.
  • May design server and network architecture.
  • May ensure appropriate training, tools, hardware, and software are available.
  • May participate in management meetings to help define goals and strategies and to solve problems.
  • May establish working relationships with client and vendor organizations.
  • May represent the company when in contact with the client, outside businesses, and governmental and military agencies.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Senior Infrastructure Analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 5 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of basic principles, theories, standards, practices, protocols, and procedures used in cyber security. Proficient with Windows operating system and command line tools, network protocols, and TCP/IP fundamentals.
  • Knowledge of network-based services and client/server applications, familiarity with intrusion detection systems, familiarity with network architecture and security infrastructure placement.
  • Ability to use network scanning and vulnerability tools and interpret the results.
  • Ability to review and validate remediation efforts of vulnerability scan results.
  • Knowledge of packet inspection, IDS/IPS, HBSS operations, firewall policies, creation of custom host based and perimeter IDS/IPS signatures.
  • Knowledge of Windows Active Directory and how to configure GPO settings and various information assurance tools.
  • Understanding of encryption technologies and identity/authentication technologies.
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, network architecture, and how to apply security controls.
  • Experience with classified IT environments and knowledge of classified operational protocols.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, to communicate with co-workers, customers, testify, write clear and concise reports, and to gather and disseminate both unclassified and classified levels of information.
  • NEXPOSE experience or exposure preferred.
  • Ability to multitask as required between responsibilities.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Products, Networking, EMC storage, SQL databases, and Oracle is mandatory.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills, be a team player, and the ability to work flexible hours if required.
  • Strong end-to-end troubleshooting skills for system, network, or application.
  • The ability to create and oversee the strategic vision and purpose of IT systems according to the organizations goals, objectives, and needs.
  • Provide architectural design diagrams and documentation and assess how to implement technologies into the existing infrastructure.
  • There is a restricted use of personal electronic devices while at the workplace; they are not allowed in specific areas of the facility.
  • Must be able to maintain SCI access.
  • The primary work location will be at Remote Sensing Laboratory on Joint Base Andrews in Suitland, Maryland.
  • Flexible work schedule can be negotiated with the manager; employees can work 5/8's, 9/80's or 4/10's work-weeks.
  • Personnel may be requested by leadership to work in excess of 40 hours per week due to projects, activities, and emergences; critical operational demands may occasionally require off-shift work.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Principal Infrastructure Analyst

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 8 years of related experience.
  • Takes ownership of technical problems and sees them through to resolution, using an advanced knowledge level of established standards, practices and procedures.
  • Maintains technical knowledge of, and follows industry trends for, automation equipment hardware, operating system, and application software.
  • Understanding of technical principles, theories, standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Assume ownership of IT support for Linux, Windows, and Network systems, including the maintenance of systems: including but not limited to Rack mount servers, switches, and Server blades and Chassis.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
  • Primary responsibility for complete lifecycle of infrastructure systems including but not restricted to input to assessment of design, builds, post installation support, and deployments.
  • Provide primary support to Technical Support Representatives as assigned.
  • Learn and comply with validation requirements, standard-operating procedures (SOP), and change control maintenance for product life cycle.
  • Document adjustments made to hardware and software as well as provide documentation for new systems as needed.
  • Assume ownership of Data Center environments including site recoverability of the primary data center.
  • Maintain system performance.
  • Perform within change control and ticketing system environment.
  • Participation in after-hours support pool. Requirements include evening and weekend availability.
  • Knowledge equivalent to an MCSE, VCAP, CCNP with 8 years' experience working on server hardware, software, networking, virtualization, SAN, and related technologies. Microsoft Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in VMware vSphere or other Virtualization technologies.
  • Disaster Recovery and Backup technologies. Candidate will demonstrate experience in each.
  • The candidate should also demonstrate a successful project management capability.
