Your responsibilities
- Carry out all development work for the Writer website
- Convert design mockups into pixel-perfect, responsive web pages
- Develop custom WordPress themes and page layouts using HTML, CSS, and PHP
- Build out a reusable component library in Gutenberg
- Ensure the website is user-friendly, and responsive across different devices and screen sizes
- Optimize front-end performance by compressing files and implementing caching techniques
- Build interactive tools for the website using Writer APIs
- Carry out plugin, PHP, and WordPress upgrades
- Monitor the website dashboard looking for performance, database, and logs issues
- Make use of multiple environments with a process from local > staging > production
- Troubleshoot and debug front-end and cross-browser compatibility issues
- Collaborate with website operations to meet deadlines and deliver projects to spec
- Create documentation outlining processes
- Stay up-to-date with latest WordPress development techniques
☆ Is this you?
- 5 years experience using PHP to render WordPress websites
- Expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
- Skilled at developing bespoke WordPress themes
- Thrives in a startup environment working hands-on
- Experience with Gutenberg, and migrating to a system of reusable components
- Experience with responsive and adaptive design
- Excellent understanding of Core Web Vitals and how to maximize page performance
- Expertise working with APIs
- Experience with GitHub deployments for WordPress sites
- Good understanding of SEO best practices
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with WordPress VIP is a plus
- Experience with HubSpot Markup Language (HubL) is a plus
