Role description:

Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water / Wastewater Project Engineer and / or Manager to join our Industrial Water team to lead and direct the development of industrial water and wastewater opportunities!

In this role, you will utilize your expertise, technical knowledge, and client relationships to successfully execute projects for a variety of industries including Technology, Oil & Gas, Food & Beverage, Life Science, Aerospace, Automotive, Chemical, Pulp & Paper. Projects ranging from feasibility studies through detailed design and construction support. Experience working within front-end loading project delivery models is key for many of our projects and clients. Depending on the project, you will be expected fill one or more roles including technical and/or financial project manager, design manager, process and process mechanical lead (water/wastewater), and/or quality reviewer.

Based on your experience and interests, you will also serve as a liaison between the Industrial Water group and market sector and account leaders to help identify and pursue water-focused opportunities.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor engineers and serve as a line manager within the Industrial Water group.

Role accountabilities:

The Senior Water/Wastewater Project Engineer/Manager is responsible for leading and directing the development of industrial water/Wastewater Projects as a client-facing project leader with major activities including: managing projects, tasks, and clients through the planning, design, and construction phases, as well as creating construction documents and specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration for both new construction and rehabilitation work.

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Prepare complete design packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water, wastewater, and reuse systems at industrial facilities from inception to completion. 
  • Coordinate execution of projects with other disciplines.
  • Work directly with clients to determine needs and provide solutions and lead teams in the preparation of winning proposals and successful presentations.
  • Manage and lead condition assessment evaluations for industrial water, wastewater, and reuse system assets including softeners, RO, membranes, biological treatment processes, waste neutralization, advanced oxidation systems, among others.
  • Lead or support the creation of cost estimates and project schedules and be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Manage and lead the growth of client relationships.
  • Supervise and support the work of others and mentor junior-level engineers and other technical staff.
  • Ensure project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards.
  • Travel as needed for client meetings, project site visits, etc. project staffing needs.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

  • 10 years of industrial water, wastewater and reuse experience. 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study.
  • P.E. License in one or more states preferred

Key Skills/Attributes:

  • Project experience including design and construction of industrial water, wastewater, and reuse systems in various industries.
  • Experience managing preparation of and reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Excellent technical engineering and project/task management skills in the water/wastewater practice area.
  • Client relationship skills; including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a successful track record of delivering various engineering projects to the expectations of the client.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil, Environmental or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 12 years of experience.
  • Experience with biological wastewater process modelling, scaling potential and other specialized software packages
  • Deep understanding of process mechanical design including pump sizing, hydraulics, piping and rack layout, pressure relief device sizing, etc.
  • Active participation in industrial committees within regional or national professional associations.

The salary range for this position is $97,000.00 - $146,000.00.
