Job Description
Hire Resolve’s client is a leading Civil Engineering firm that is urgently seeking the expertise of a Senior Water Resources Engineer in San Francisco, California.
Responsibilities
- Review submitted floodplain mapping revisions and evaluate submitted engineering hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses to confirm that the analyses are technically accurate
- Evaluate existing flood study information for incorporation into FEMA Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) products
- Act as a technical liaison
- Complete quality control reviews and oversee H&H analyses completed by other engineers within the company and assist in the management of engineering tasks and projects
- Support new H&H analyses that conform to NFIP guidelines and specifications
- Floodplain mapping will be completed using the results from the hydraulic analyses along with digital terrain data
- These tasks will involve the use of various H&H engineering software as well as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software
- Conduct ad hoc research to resolve challenging technical flood study, flood hazard mapping, and floodplain management issues
- Fulfill data requests submitted by project stakeholders
- Coordinate with GIS analysts in support of the activities above and potential production and risk assessment products
- May complete and/or assist with other various engineering projects related to Water Resources and civil engineering
- Keeping track of multiple ongoing efforts will be crucial
Requirements
- 5-10 years of work experience
- Some work experience can be supplemented by a Master's degree or a higher degree
- Proficiency in hydrology, hydraulics, and ArcGIS is required
- SPECIAL SKILLS Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
- This position will require significant client interaction
- The ability to communicate effectively is paramount
- Strong organizational skills are a must
- Knowledge and experience in hydrologic analysis using rainfall-runoff, regression, gage analysis, and HEC-HMS is required Knowledge and experience in 1D hydraulic analysis using HEC-RAS, SWMM, or other hydraulic software is required
- PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS P.E. registration required or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
