Senior Visual Experience Designer

The Role

The LAB is seeking to add an experienced Visual Experience Designer to our team. The candidate should have a strong foundation in Visual Communication and User Experience Design for screen and Space. The Senior Visual Experience Designer will collaborate with physical designers and technologists to create interactive activations from concept through production.

They will also work with Studio Leadership on how the LAB can continue to innovate as spatial storytellers through interaction design. The ideal candidate is a confident contributor who can communicate well through visuals, prototypes, and writing and lead a UX design process with large and small teams.

Responsibilities

Interaction Design

• Conducting UX Research to aid the Strategy team in the earliest stages of design.
• Creating Interaction Concept Sketches in collaboration with the Strategy, Design and Creative Tech teams.
• Producing Interaction flow diagrams in collaboration with the Creative Tech team.
• Creating Wireframes and interactive Mockups.
• Conducting User Testing and validating Production development work.

Visual Design

• Developing Visual Design Concepts and Systems.
• Facilitating the development of motion studies in collaboration with Motion Graphics artists and Creative Technologists
• Developing clickable or animated prototypes for design approval.
• Developing Production graphics and User Interface elements to be integrated into production software

Requirements

• Background in Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, and/or UX/UI Design
• 5+ years experience designing spatial and screen-based interactions in highly visible public spaces.
  • Computer Vision based interactions
  • AR/VR interactions
  • Screen and App based interactions
• Experience designing with novel technologies and hardware configurations
• Proficiency with most of the following:
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign)
  • Figma, Miro, XD
  • Front-end web development
  • 3D modeling tools: Rhino, Blender, Cinema4D, Houdini

Qualities we are looking for

• A minimum of 5 years of experience developing UX design for digital or physical spaces with a design agency or technology company.
• Understanding of experience design industry
• Ability to work independently, and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Strong research skills, both in defining concept/strategy and visual assets
• Excellent concept, communication and presentation skills
• Comfortable with fast timelines, and self-sufficient creating design schedules to manage deadlines and tasks.
• A proactive and positive attitude about the work and our industry
• Experience with agile workflows and tools like Monday.com.

Salary range 90,000 - 110,000 

Salaries vary in response to an individual's experience and proven track record based on total value of projects designed or managed, number of staff managed, complexity of  projects completed, presentation experience, and seniority.
