Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, Florida is looking foraSenior Vibration Engineer.
SUMMARY
The Senior Vibration Engineer position is an advanced engineering role with demonstrated capability performing vibration diagnostics, testing, troubleshooting and balancing of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, and Auxiliary equipment. The position places high emphasis on supporting customer needs as they pertain to evaluating machinery condition based on rotor dynamic analysis, recommending corrective action including vibration response assessment, calculating/performing field balancing, and verifying mechanical integrity in accordance with turbomachinery design, operational parameters, and acceptable industry standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Diagnose machinery problems (mechanical troubleshooting) based upon vibration data, test data, performance data, operational data, mechanical design data, and customer communications;
  • Support the technical evaluations on vibration signature questions/issues. This would include Vibration Trend and Dynamic data analysis. Based on general Trend data analysis, provide guidance on when dynamic data analysis or additional on-site data acquisition is recommended for more thorough analysis;
  • Provide technical support for vibration signature evaluations or concerns that are related to sub-components of the rotor/casing assemblies and auxiliaries utilizing a system-based approach;
  • Provide technical review for field and rotor shop balancing recommendations as needed where primary recommendations are typically provided from sub-contractors for on-site evaluation;
  • Collecting and analyzing vibration, ultrasound and thermography information on fans, blowers, electrical motors, gearboxes, compressors, etc. to support Balance of Plant (BOP) and Auxiliaries;
  • Accurately and effectively generating, distributing, and maintaining records and reports in support of Mitsubishi Power requirements while working safely in a team-oriented environment with Mitsubishi and contract employees;
  • Assisting with other Mitsubishi Power groups and Customers as needed to support major equipment outages or daily work as assigned;
  • Maintain ongoing skills enhancement such as staying current with emerging technology, certifications, and expanding knowledge base with ongoing education;
  • Interface with vendors to keep up to date on technology advancements that can be applied to reduce costs or increase performance and/or reliability;
  • Interface with customers both in office and on-site to effectively represent Mitsubishi Power, demonstrating technical expertise and customer sensitivity to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction;
  • Complete in a timely manner documentation of findings / recommendations / corrective actions in Mitsubishi Power typical report formats;
  • Professionally communicate with customer, other team members, vendors as appropriate
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

    • Business Travel land/air/overnight (estimate up to 25%)

    • Some overnight travel (up to 25%) by land and/or air with some trips lasting two or more weeks.

      • Education and/or Experience:BS degree inMechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university; Greater than 5 years relevant industry experience (position & compensation commensurate with experience).
      • Language Skills:Ability to read and interpret documents such as industry reports and technical journals. Ability to write technical reports and correspondence including customer reports. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to customers, clients, vendors and other employees of the organization
      • Mathematical Skills:Ability to perform necessary calculations to satisfy job requirements.
      • Reasoning Ability:Ability to make judgment decisions based on specifications or technical requirements.
      • Computer Skills: Advanced personal computer skills including graphics (Pro/ENGINEER, AutoCAD), MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), System 1 Vibration analysis software
      • Software Platforms: Experience with any one or more of the following platforms Bently Nevada System 1 and ADRE, B&K SetPoint CMS, Data Physics SignalCalc, IOtech Zonicbook, etc. is preferred.

The employee may be required to adhere to MPW-A and customer safety procedures including but not limited to, the use of personal protection equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, goggles, hearing and fall protection).
