Who you are:

The ideal candidate:
  • Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) certification or extensive experience as a Senior Veterinary Assistant.
  • Proficiency in animal handling, restraint, and nursing care.
  • Excellent knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Experience with diagnostic equipment, including radiology and laboratory equipment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to empathize and communicate effectively with pet owners.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Prior experience in an Urgent Care or emergency veterinary setting is highly desirable.
 
 
Duties you will be responsible for in this role:
 
  • Perform triage and provide immediate medical attention to incoming patients.
  • Collect and record patient history, vital signs, and symptoms.
  • Assist veterinarians with diagnostic procedures, treatments, and surgeries.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Perform laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and cytology.
  • Monitor patients under anesthesia and assist with dental cleanings.
  • Educate clients on proper animal care and medication administration.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with staff and clients using tact, patience, professional courtesy, and exhibit confidentiality and discretion where appropriate
  • Consistent and reliable ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug doses, CRIs, client invoices and estimates, and other position-related calculations
  • Maintain the California Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VACSP); must obtain within 60-days of hire or transfer into this role; (this requirement is waived if incumbent holds a valid CA-RVT license)
 
Basic Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of clinical experience in the veterinary industry
Work Schedule:
  • Full-Time
  • 4/10 Schedule
Compensation range: 
 
RVT: $25.00 - $40.00 hour
SVA: $25.00 - $36.00 hour 
 
Our pay ranges are primarily determined by role, level, and location. The range provided for each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
