MarathonTS is seeking a UNIX / Linux Monitoring Engineer - ESM Tools to support our Federal customer in the Eagan, MN area . The successful candidate will have 5 years of experience Minimum with UNIX/Linux, showcasing proficiency in Windows and Unix Operating systems, scripting skills: Strong UNIX shell scripting skills (BASH, Perl) and proficiency in other scripting languages (Python, Selenium), engineering acumen: experience in architecting and engineering software for large organizations, incorporating automation management tools such as Puppet and Ansible, monitoring expertise: utilize monitoring tools for applications, hardware, OS, network, and portals, demonstrating a robust knowledge of UNIX/Linux internals, including the kernel and network stack.
Our ideal candidate would have 5 years of experience with Cloud Expertise: Extensive experience setting up monitoring and alerting within Google and Azure Cloud platforms, Technical Mastery: Expert-level knowledge in UNIX (Linux, Solaris), Automation Proficiency: Automation experience and software development skills on UNIX-like systems, System Calls Knowledge: Strong understanding of system calls and their programmable use for system monitoring, Integration Experience: Hands-on experience developing integrations using Shell/BASH, Perl, Ruby, and Python, Team Collaboration: Experience working in a team implementing enterprise monitoring solutions, Cloud Monitoring: Strong cloud monitoring experience (AWS, Azure, etc.), and Service Management: Experience implementing ITIL and change management in a large enterprise, especially from a service perspective.

Location: Eagan, MN
Embark on an exciting journey with our esteemed team as a Senior UNIX/Linux Monitoring Engineer based in Eagan, MN. This on-site role calls for a seasoned expert in UNIX/Linux monitoring tools, contributing to the technological advancement within the US Government Client enterprise. The successful candidate will exemplify autonomy, showcasing a self-directed approach to drive development and engineering tasks.
This position will lead the development and engineering of UNIX/Linux based monitoring tools within the US Government Client enterprise. The selected individual will be expected to work independently with a minimum of guidance or direction.
Primary Responsibilities:
" Lead Innovation: Spearhead the design, development, deployment, and comprehensive support of UNIX/Linux-based monitoring tools within the dynamic landscapes of Google and Azure Cloud environments.
" Specialization in Solutions: Excel in implementing, engineering, and supporting the Enterprise Event Monitoring solution, leveraging tools such as AppDynamics, Zabbix, SolarWinds, and Neustar.
" Technical Prowess: Showcase your technical prowess by installing, integrating, troubleshooting, administering, and engineering cutting-edge products on UNIX-like servers.
" Integration Expertise: Specify and implement integrations with diverse systems management solutions, including hardware, storage, network, and third-party element managers.
" Collaboration: Engineer seamless integration with other enterprise monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, SolarWinds, Neustar, Everbridge, and Splunk.
" Transparent Reporting: Provide regular, transparent reports on monitoring status to users and managers, accompanied by well-thought-out action plans for fault resolution.
" Operational Excellence: Develop and implement operational management processes and procedures to ensure operational excellence.
" Strategic Growth: Formulate growth plans that align the hosting environment with projected expansion, ensuring scalability and resilience.
" Proactive Problem Management: Implement procedures for proactive problem detection and avoidance, including robust disaster recovery planning.
Basic Qualifications:
" Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience (additional experience considered in lieu of a degree).
" Technical Proficiency: Minimum 5+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, showcasing proficiency in Windows and Unix Operating systems.
" Scripting Skills: Strong UNIX shell scripting skills (BASH, Perl) and proficiency in other scripting languages (Python, Selenium).
" Engineering Acumen: Experience in architecting and engineering software for large organizations, incorporating automation management tools such as Puppet and Ansible.
" Monitoring Expertise: Utilize monitoring tools for applications, hardware, OS, network, and portals, demonstrating a robust knowledge of UNIX/Linux internals, including the kernel and network stack.
" Communication Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer support skills.
Requirements:
" Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance US Citizen or Permanent Resident, with no more than 6 months of combined travel outside the US in the last 5 years.
" Residency: Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years.

" Tool Familiarity: Familiarity with tools such as AppDynamics, Solarwinds, Neustar Monitoring, and Splunk.
" In-depth Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of monitoring solutions on UNIX-like systems.
" Local Presence: Local to the Eagan, MN area (no relocation assistance provided).
" Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card Holder), and must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in last 5 years.
" Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years
This resource will provide onsite support in the Eagan, MN area.
