Job Summary:
Responsible for assuring integrity and quality of cancer clinical research data is maintained and that data is collected in accordance with national and state agencies, cancer program accreditation agency and VUMC Cancer Committee. Knowledge of guidelines for determining case eligibility. Under national reporting standards, maintains accurate and timely documentation, manages data entry for case completeness and demonstrates knowledge on data retrieval. Participates in department wide quality assurance of cancer data and other studies as assigned. In addition to Tumor registry work 4612, is responsible for all national and state transmittal of data, legislative requirements and for assisting with COC and NAPBC data for accreditation, monitors CP3r and RCRS data and is an IQVIA Uploader in Data Platforms within the COC q- port. Coordinates with IT for development and utilization of special tools created for better workflow for the department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for all national and state transmittal of data, legislative requirements, and for assisting with data for COC and NAPBC accreditation.
  • Monitors CP3r and RCRS data. IQVIA Uploader (access to RCRS with ability to upload data for submission) in Data Platforms within the COC q- port.
  • Assists management in data requests and special studies.
  • Ensure all data submission to the state, COC and other entities are completed timely.
  • Coordinates with IT for development and utilization of special tools created for better workflow for the department.
  • Represents facility and attends Cancer Committee per COC Standards.
  • Assists in data abstraction related questions and sends questions to SEER, Answer Forum and has open communication for questions with the Central Registry. Seeks guidance from manager as needed.
  • Covers responsibilities as needed when management is away such as covering workflow, case finding and available for upper management should questions arise. Notifies management of any issues that need attention.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
  • INTERMEDIATE KNOWLEDGE OF EXCEL: Has intermediate knowledge of Excel including but not all, creating spreadsheets, pivot tables, formulas, etc.
  • INTERMEDIATE KNOWLEDGE OF POWER POINT: Use of Microsoft Power Point for creating presentations.
  • WRITING PROGRAM QUERIES: Advanced knowledge of program software to build queries.
  • CASEFINDING TOOL IMPORTING AND EXPORTING: Advanced knowledge of In -house designed tool which requires monthly review of cases with reportable ICD-10 codes.
  • TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLEX EDIT SETS WITH THE DATA SOFTWARE: Advanced knowledge of SEER, AJCC & NAACCR data items.
