CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Process Optimization Senior Consultant to join our Transmission Operations Team, located in Houston, TX.
You will have the ability to: provide technical expertise and specialized computer services to monitor, coordinate, and expedite the delivery of transmission line construction materials for Transmission Operations.

To be successful in this role you will:
- Evaluate material requirements for work orders and develop and maintain project material schedules.
- Produce and maintain reports on material delivery status and take action to expedite orders with Purchasing & Logistics and vendors as necessary to meet construction schedules.
- Interface with inspectors, engineers, construction personnel, warehousing personnel, purchasing agents, vendors and management regarding materials procurement and delivery issues.
- Recommend, develop, implement, and maintain data collection and reporting systems with a focus on improving the efficiency of work processes.
- Make presentations (written or oral) to management and others on pertinent issues.
- Serve as a department representative on task forces, committees, and cross-functional teams.
- Sr. Transmission Material Expeditor is expected to be proficient in the above duties and train others.
Your background includes:
- Education
High school diploma or equivalent mathematics and English grammar skills is required.
- Experience
Must have 16 years of experience in materials management, materials purchasing, or materials logistics, or similar role. Must have 6 years of software experience in SAP Materials Management Module
College or trade school education in a business, communications, management, technical, computer science, or engineering discipline area can be substituted for experience at the rate of 1-year (30 hrs.) of college for 2-years' experience.
- Required Software: SAP Materials Management Module
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) with specific experience in developing and maintaining complex spreadsheets
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required to function in this position.
- Ability to perform advanced mathematical computations (algebra and trigonometry) required for engineering and economic calculations.
- Ability to read, interpret, utilize and discuss technical manuals and documents regarding computer software and/or hardware.
- Working Conditions
Normal office environment with periods of continuous visual focusing on video monitors.
Occasional field checking of transmission facilities using a car, truck (4-WD), or ATV.
Occasional travel to other cities for industry meetings or conferences.
