DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Senior Traffic Control Specialist, you will serve as the project manager of PennDOT's Advanced Transportation Management System, Lane Reservation System, and Connected Vehicle Data Exchange. Each system is at the core of PennDOT's vision for enhancing real-time roadway operations and has a wide variety of established stakeholders within the public and private industry that provide many opportunities for unique engagement.
In this position, you will also identify needed enhancements/improvements to the Advanced Transportation Management System through engagement with system users, the vendor, and other PennDOT traffic operations personnel and management, in consultation with the Unit Manager.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • This position is eligible for an Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year as a Traffic Control Specialist; or
  • Two years of progressively responsible technical experience in Traffic Control work; and a Bachelor's Degree in mathematics, statistics, or civil engineering; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • This particular position requires possession of a valid Non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
