Senior Tax Associate

Twin Cities' based, Olsen Thielen & Co., Ltd., a progressive 100+ year-old company with offices in Roseville and Eden Prairie, MN is currently seeking an experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our team. Essential Functions:

• Prepares moderately complex personal and business tax returns and demonstrates the potential to prepare complex tax returns. Recognizes, anticipates and resolves tax issues; makes recommendations.
• Prepares amended returns, personal tax projections, property tax refunds, employee benefit plan returns, carryback and payroll returns.
• Develops the ability to review basic tax returns.
• Performs basic tax research and assists in special tax projects.
• Demonstrates a working knowledge of various tax programs and tax software (CCH, Engagement, BNA, RIA, e.g.).
• Provides work direction to staff.
• Demonstrates a referral network starting to develop. Attentive and sensitive to marketing the firm's services.
• Demonstrates ability to take on more specified assignments to develop in-charge responsibilities.
• Reviews tax information supplied by client; works with confidential client matters and may meet with or call client with questions.

Other Functions:

Tax staff should be familiar with IRS Circular 230 Regulations Governing the Practice of Attorneys, Certified Public Accountants, Actuaries and Enrolled Agents Before the IRS and the AICPA Professional Code of Conduct. It is the individual responsibility of every employee to maintain a current awareness and understanding of and to fully comply with Olsen Thielen's code of ethics, independence rules and quality control practices.

Job Requirements:

• CPA or actively pursuing CPA Certification/completion preferred at this level.
• 3-5 years of tax preparation experience.
• Working knowledge of tax preparation, research, planning and strong knowledge of the tax code and regulations.
• Excellent human relations, communication (oral and written) skills.
