Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance:
- Manage the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization, and implementing necessary adjustments.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to facilitate tax audits and examinations.
Tax Planning and Strategy:
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities while maximizing financial efficiency.
- Analyze the tax implications of various business transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring, and provide recommendations to optimize tax outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for tax credits, deductions, and incentives to support business objectives.
Financial Reporting and Analysis:
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate tax provisions and disclosures in financial statements.
- Conduct regular reviews and analyses of tax accounts and reserves, identifying areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management regarding the tax implications of financial decisions and strategic initiatives.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
- Establish and maintain effective internal controls related to tax processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and mitigate risks.
- Conduct periodic reviews and audits of tax processes to identify weaknesses and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance tax awareness and compliance across the organization.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and support to foster their professional growth and development.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and cross-functional collaboration.
- Set clear performance expectations and goals for team members, conducting regular performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree in taxation preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in tax compliance and planning, with a focus on corporate taxation.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
- Experience in tax accounting, including tax provisions and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex tax laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team of tax professionals.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
