Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Tax Accountant to come and join our Group Finance Team as the 2nd member of our tax function, reporting to our Senior International Tax Manager, Finance and Control (Group). This role includes working closely with Songtradr’s finance and operational teams and regional finance leaders on certain deliverables and projects.

The Senior Tax Accountant is a vital member of our finance team, who will be helping to set up our tax function and managing and optimizing the company's tax compliance. This role requires a strong understanding of US sales and use tax regulations, as well as international tax knowledge for VAT, plus a keen eye for detail, and effective communication. The Senior Tax Accountant will collaborate cross-functionally with various departments and local finance teams and advisors, providing support for the company's global footprint and growth initiatives for global income tax. This is a newly created role with many opportunities to get involved in a number of projects across indirect tax and tax more broadly.

Main Job Duties
Your role would include, but not be limited to the following:

Tax Compliance and Reporting

• Ownership of the Indirect tax processes for US businesses - ensure the timely and accurate preparation and filing of indirect tax returns, including sales and use tax, and property taxes in the US and VAT internationally (note that some of these are prepared and/or filed via 3rd parties)
• Reconciliation of sales tax reports and preparation of all indirect tax journal entries
• Key subject matter expert for the tax software implementation project
• Create, maintain and improve indirect tax policies and processes to manage tax risks and compliance
• Support local overseas finance teams with their indirect tax compliance and returns
• Support the Senior International Tax Manager to establish suitable global tax policies and processes
• Stay current with changes in tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance and minimizing tax liabilities
• Assist in tax planning and strategy development to optimize the company's tax position
• Assist accounting with the review of routine intercompany calculations and journal entries for the region.
• Partner with outside tax providers, as needed, including oversight of global corporate income tax filings, including review of draft returns, tax calendars and workplans, etc.

Audit Support

• Assist with internal and external tax audits, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
• Maintain organized records and documentation to support tax positions taken

Advisory and Strategy

• Assist with the provision of tax advice and guidance to management on various financial decisions and contracts with respect to tax
• Providing indirect tax guidance on potential new products / revenue streams as required

Other projects and activities as required

Desired Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field
• 4 -5 years of progressive experience in US direct and indirect tax
• Experience in a tax practice desirable
• Experience with international tax laws are desirable
• Experience with sales tax compliance software and implementation desirable
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret and apply complex tax regulations
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical tax concepts to non-tax professionals
• Proven project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously

Pay: Up to $130,000.00 per year
