Summary

The Senior Tax Accountant will be primarily responsible for the preparation of U.S. federal consolidation and state unitary/consolidated income tax returns, as well as prepare/assist with quarterly and annual tax provision calculations. The role will require solid tax technical knowledge of federal and unitary state tax laws. The position will also assist with tax audits and tax depreciation analysis for assigned group of entities. The position reports to the Senior Tax Manager and will work closely with other Senior Tax staff and other departments.

Essential Functions

  • Consolidate federal proformas prepared by team members and analyze for federal tax projections used in frequent financial forecasts and quarterly tax installments.
  • Prepare components of federal consolidated income tax return, including eliminations.
  • Prepare unitary/consolidated state income tax returns, quarterly estimated payments and extensions.
  • Prepare state apportionment workpapers as well as required eliminations for state tax compliance purposes.
  • Prepare state modification Workpapers for unitary/consolidated states.
  • Prepare assigned tax provision components.
  • Maintain net operating loss carryforward schedules and related technical rules for assigned entities or group of entities, while analyzing for maximum preservation and usage.
  • Work closely with Senior Tax Manager on information gathering, analysis, and draft responses to federal and state tax audits and notices; communicate professionally with tax auditors, as required.
  • Stay abreast of federal and state tax law changes; analyze and communicate impact to the company.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and tax-saving opportunities.
  • Complete all documentation in compliance with SOX requirements.
  • Prepare tax account reconciliations for assigned entities.

Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with ONESOURCE Income Tax/Provision (intermediate level) preferred;
  • Analytical proficiency and knowledge of Federal and State income tax (intermediate level);
  • Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors);
  • Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Demonstrates problem-solving skills;
  • Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team;
  • Possesses strong technical aptitude; demonstrates initiative in mastering new technical areas quickly;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective interpersonal skills;
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow-up practices;
  • Strong knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Word and Excel) (intermediate to advanced level);

Qualifications

  • Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related discipline required.
  • Master's degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred;
  • Four (4) years or more relevant experience in large multinational corporate tax environment and/or top tier accounting firm, required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred

Salary is determined based on internal equity; internal salary ranges; market data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; certain degrees or certifications, etc. The salary for this position ranges from $90K to $105K
